Drops nine off bench Fort racked up nine points (4-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt) across 14 minutes during Tuesday's 68-52 win over Oregon.

Impact Fort's nine points were his most since Dec. 29; this performance looks like an outlier. Since moving to the bench in early December, the senior guard has been largely quiet for the Spartans. His 14 minutes were the most he's played since Michigan State resumed conference play. Fort should remain mainly an afterthought in East Lansing despite the strong outing Tuesday.

It's unclear whether the move is solely due to the sickness, though, as Fort has played fewer than 21 minutes in every game this season. He'll play through the illness Tuesday.

The 2-0 Spartans will look to continue to establish a backcourt identity but only have one matchup on the schedule this week, Thursday against San Jose State.

Impact Many thought Fort would be a candidate to earn a starting backcourt spot after averaging 14.6 ppg last year at Samford, but at least in exhibition play, that hasn't been the case. Sophomore Kur Teng has started both exhibition games after averaging only 3.0 mpg a season ago, but he hasn't exactly lit it up offensively in his opportunities. Fort will likely be one of the better scoring options for the Spartans in any case, even if it's in a reserve capacity.
