No. 23 BYU beats No. 10 Iowa State 88-85 in double OT

Richie Saunders scored 23 points and No. 23 BYU outlasted No. 10 Iowa State 88-85 in double overtime for its seventh consecutive victory
MARCH 5, 2025 • Associated Press
Playmaking skills on full display Lipsey ended Saturday's 84-67 victory over Arizona with 15 points (4-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 5-5 FT), two rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 34 minutes.
Impact Lipsey recorded one of his better performances of the season, posting 15 points on an efficient 4-for-6 from the floor including drilling 2-of-3 from deep. The junior point guard added two boards and a couple of steals while dishing out eight dimes against just one turnover. The return of Keshon Gilbert to the lineup after missing a few games helped open things up for Lipsey and the Cyclones, who are returning to full health just in time for the postseason. Lipsey was a key cog for the club last season but has seen a dip in his numbers all the way around this season as players like Curtis Jones and Joshua Jefferson are enjoying career seasons. Iowa State has the depth to make a deep run in the postseason but an effective Tamin Lipsey is the most important cog in the Cyclones' hopes of making a trip to the Final Four for the first time in more than 80 years.

Scores 11, swipes four Lipsey contributed 11 points (3-3 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 3-5 FT), five rebounds and four steals across 31 minutes during Saturday's 81-70 win over Cincinnati.
Impact Lipsey connected on each of his three FG attempts, including both from beyond the arc, tallying 11 points to go along with five boards and four steals. It was the second time in four games the point guard failed to register an assist as his numbers have dipped from 4.9 assists last season to 2.8 this season. Lipsey, who has also seen his scoring dip from 12.4 points to 10.4 has seen an increase in his shooting efficiency, averaging 47.1-percent from the floor after shooting 42.8-percent last year. He's also continued to perform on the defensive end, contributing better than two steals per contest for the third-consecutive season.

No. 3 Iowa State visits No. 11 Kansas following Lipsey's 20-point showing

No. 3 Iowa State faces the No. 11 Kansas Jayhawks after Tamin Lipsey scored 20 points in the Cyclones' 80-61 loss to the Kansas State Wildcats
FEBRUARY 3, 2025 • Associated Press
Slow finish to January Lipsey logged eight points (3-6 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal over 34 minutes during Saturday's 76-61 victory over Arizona State.
Impact Lipsey is averaging just 8.4 ppg over his last five games and 9.9 ppg on the season -- a relatively steep decline from the 12.4 ppg he logged a season ago. His field-goal percentage is up, but his rebounding and assists numbers are down tremendously, representing a tough break for fantasy managers who selected the ISU shooting guard with hopes for growth. Despite the individual regression, the Cyclones are still having an excellent season, sporting a 7-1 record in Big 12 play and positioning themselves well for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Heating up Lipsey closed with 20 points (4-8 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 11-14 FT), seven rebounds, two assists and two steals in 33 minutes during Tuesday's 82-59 victory over Utah.
Impact Lipsey was rewarded for his controlled aggression Tuesday, earning a career-high 14 trips to the line en route to posting his second 20-point effort of the season. The junior point guard added seven boards, two assists and two steals in what was his best all-around effort of the season. Lipsey was a first-team All-Big 12 performer last season but has seen his production dip across the board this season. However, he's begun to pick things up over the last six games, averaging 13.0 points on 51.9-percent shooting with 3.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 2.0 steals across 29.0 minutes during that stretch.

Dishes out 9 dimes Lipsey notched five points (2-4 FG, 1-1 3Pt), two rebounds, nine assists and two steals in 25 minutes during Sunday's 100-58 win over Jackson State.
Impact Lipsey posted just five points but contributed nine assists, more than double his previous season-best total, and doing so while not turning the ball over. The junior guard has taken a back seat thus far offensively, topping 10 points just three times through eight games. However, he remains a menace on the defensive end, posting multiple thefts six different times.

Jones scores 20 points off bench, Lipsey adds 17 in No. 5 Cyclones' 87-52 win over IU Indianapolis

Curtis Jones scored 20 points and Tamin Lipsey added 17 to lead No. 5 Iowa State past IU Indianapolis 87-52

Scores 17, adds five steals Lipsey registered 17 points (5-9 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 6-6 FT), two rebounds, three assists and five steals over 29 minutes during Monday's 87-52 victory over IU Indianapolis.
Impact Lipsey contributed season-high totals with 17 points and five steals. Through three games, the Cyclones have yet to play in a competitive game which has limited Lipsey's time on the floor. However, while his assist and rebounding totals have taken a slight dip thus far, Lipsey's improved his efficiency from the floor, shooting 52.2 percent this season on 7.7 attempts per contest after posting a 42.8 mark on 10.0 shots per game during last year's breakout. He's currently contributing 13.7 points, 2.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 3.0 steals and 0.7 blocks across 27.7 minutes per contest.

Sets tone on both ends of floor Lipsey notched 16 points (5-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one rebound, four assists, two blocks and three steals across 26 minutes during Monday's 83-44 victory over Mississippi Valley S...
Impact Lipsey entered this season as one of the top all-around guards in the country and fulfilled that promise on opening night, contributing solid numbers on both ends of the floor. The junior added a career-high two blocks to his traditional three steals while showing improved efficiency from the floor, scoring 16 points on seven shots after shooting just 42.8% last season. Lipsey was listed as a preseason honorable mention All-American candidate and a small leap in his scoring production this season would portend to big things for the Cyclones, who have their eyes set on a Big 12 title and are one of the favorites to make a trip to the Final Four.

NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament: Ranking the top 16 players in the Sweet 16
Sets tone for Cyclones Lipsey logged 17 points (6-9 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds, seven assists and two steals across 29 minutes during Thursday's 82-65 win over South Dakota State.
Impact Guard play is typically paramount to NCAA Tournament success and Iowa State's guards did not disappoint, with Lipsey, Keshon Gilbert and Curtis Jones combining for 43 points, 15 assists and seven steals. The continued production of Lipsey and his backcourt mates will loom large as Iowa State looks to make a deep run.
MARCH 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Back to his disruptive ways Lipsey finished Wednesday's 68-63 win over BYU with 19 points (7-16 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), six rebounds, one assist and five steals across 34 minutes.
Impact Lipsey was back to his usual disruptive self on Wednesday, leading Iowa State with five steals and 19 points along with matching the team lead with six boards. The 19 points represent a high-water mark for the sophomore in conference play while the five thefts were the most he's had in a game since Jan. 13 and the third time he's reached or surpassed that total this season. The standout sophomore point guard got off to an incredible start this season, averaging 15.5 points, 5.9 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 3.6 steals while shooting nearly 50% from the field, 42.9% from three and maintaining a 2.8 assist-to-turnover ratio. However, he's struggled since the start of conference play with those numbers dipping to 10.1 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.2 assists and 2.2 steals with a 34.2% field-goal percentage and 30.2% mark from beyond the arc. Iowa State has one of the best guard trios in all of college basketball and a return to form for Lipsey in time for tournament action would legitimize their candidacy as a true Final Four threat.

Expected to play Wednesday Lipsey (shoulder) is expected to play in Wednesday's game against Kansas State, Travis Hines of The Des Moines Register reports.
Impact Lipsey did not play in last Saturday's game against TCU due to a shoulder injury. Getting the star point guard back for this matchup with the Wildcats would be huge. Lipsey has been fantastic this season averaging 14.5 points, 5.6 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 3.4 steals per contest. Curtis Jones would likely go back to the bench in Lipsey is active.

Status day-to-day Lipsey (shoulder) is day-to-day, per Travis Hines of The Des Moines Register.
Impact Iowa State will monitor Lipsey daily before the team plays at TCU on Saturday. After all, his injury is more specifically a sprain, a relatively more severe type of injury that could force him to log his first DNP then. Chances are higher that Lipsey's availability becomes a game-time decision.

Sees dip in production Lipsey closed Saturday's 66-42 victory over Oklahoma State with 17 points (5-12 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 7-8 FT), three rebounds, four assists and five steals over 30 minutes.
Impact Lipsey has been a revelation this season for Iowa State as the only player in the country to average more than 14 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals, currently ranking second in the nation to FIU's Arturo Dean with 3.4 steals per game. As expected, the start of Big 12 play has brought about a greater challenge for Lipsey and his numbers have taken a hit, mainly due to a four-point effort against Oklahoma to open the conference slate. Since then, while his rebounding and assist totals have dipped slightly, he's picked things back up with 31 points over his last couple of games. Additionally, after beginning conference play with his first two games of the season with less than two thefts, Lipsey rebounded with a five-steal effort Saturday against Oklahoma State.

Lipsey scores 17 to lead Iowa State to 66-42 romp over Oklahoma State

Tamin Lipsey scored 17 points to propel Iowa State to a 66-42 romp over Oklahoma State on Saturday night

Still tearing it up Lipsey provided 16 points (6-14 FG, 3-5 3Pt, 1-2 FT), five rebounds, six assists, one block and four steals over 26 minutes during Sunday's 85-70 win over New Hampshire.
Impact Lipsey continues to be one of the most consistent forces in the fantasy realm, as he's solid in the scoring department but elite in ancillary production. He's particularly elite in formats that value steals, as he's recorded three or more in 11 consecutive games, and his 3.6 spg average is the second best mark in the entire country. On top of the thefts, the biggest chance for Lipsey from last season has been outside shooting, as he's now converting 1.6 three-pointers per contest at an efficient success rate of 42.9 percent. Likely a later pick in fantasy drafts, Lipsey has the makings of a league-winning selection.
