Shuler carries Charleston Southern over FAU 68-66

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Dontrell Shuler had 17 points as Charleston Southern narrowly defeated Florida Atlantic 68-66 in the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament first round on Thursday night.

Phlandrous Fleming Jr. had 17 points for Charleston Southern (18-15). Ty Jones added 14 points. Christian Keeling had 12 points, all in the second half, for the home team.

Fleming blocked a layup with 13 seconds remaining to preserve the Buccaneers' 68-66 lead. Keeling missed the front end of a one-and-one with 10 seconds left and FAU's Xavian Stapleton missed a go-ahead 3-pointer as time ran out.

Anthony Adger had 17 points for the Owls (17-16). Michael Forrest added 15 points. Xavian Stapleton had 14 points.
