Impact According to Curt Weiler of the Tallahassee Democrat, Barnes had been battling tonsillitis and was not a lock to play in this contest. The freshman ended up lacing up and having a strong day on the distributing end, and he's now averaging 5.2 apg over his last nine contests. It's unclear if the recent ailment will affect his availability Saturday against Notre Dame.

He's been especially strong in his last three contests, averaging 10.3 points, 5.7 rebounds and 4.3 assists -- all exceeding his season-long marks.

Given the fact he was a starter in all but two of his previous games, it wouldn't be surprising if he moves back to the starting five ahead of Saturday's matchup against Clemson.

Impact Barnes has been dealing with an ankle injury for the last couple weeks. It's not clear if he will indeed play or not Monday, but if he does it appears it will be in a limited role off the bench. If he can't go Monday, his next chance to suit up would be Saturday against Clemson.

Impact Barnes suffered an ankle injury during the second half of Wednesday's game versus North Carolina, limiting him to a season-low 13 minutes in his first bench appearance of the season. The freshman still managed to rack up 11 points in his short window -- just his fourth-double digit effort of the season -- and could be a key piece versus the Tar Heels on Saturday, regardless of his role, if cleared to play.

Barnes' limited run wasn't an issue in Wednesday's 32-point blowout, but he'll definitely be needed in upcoming showdowns with UNC (Jan. 16) and Louisville (Jan. 18).

Impact Barnes paced the Seminoles in the loss and, in fact, he was just one of two players that reached the 10-point mark in a game where Florida State's offense sputtered -- they only shot 41.9 percent from the field and 28.1 percent from three-point range as a team. Barnes has scored 14 or more points in three of his last five games as well.
