Impact Waterman led BYU with eight rebounds though he converted on just one of five shot attempts, all from three, to put up another underwhelming offensive performance Tuesday. The senior forward performed well during the non-conference slate, posting 11.8 points and 6.6 rebounds while shooting 49.1% from the field and 42.9% from three. However, despite maintaining his starting status, he's struggled significantly in eight conference games with just as many zero-point efforts (three) as games with 17-plus points. Specifically, most of his struggles are taking place on the road as he averages 0.8 points and 5.8 rebounds on the road as opposed to 14.8 points and 4.5 rebounds at home during Big 12 play. To that end, three of the next four games for BYU will take place in the friendly confines of the Marriott Center.

Impact Waterman had been struggling significantly on the offensive end prior to Tuesday, posting just seven total points since the start of conference play on just 3-for-16 shooting from the field. While he finished second on the team in scoring Tuesday, his struggles from the field continued in shooting just 33% on 12 attempts. On pace for career year Waterman totaled 24 points (9-14 FG, 6-9 3Pt), seven rebounds and one assist in 25 minutes during Thursday's 77-49 win over Arizona State.

Impact BYU has dealt with several concerns at the center position this season, especially of late. First, Aly Khalifa missed his third straight game Thursday with a knee injury. Heading into Friday's matchup against NC State, reserve big man Atiki Ally Atiki is suspended due to his role in an altercation in Thursday's Vegas Showdown matchup. Waterman has hardly been affected, however, as he's started all five games for the Cougars and has the third-best scoring average on the team at 12.0 ppg. There's one dud in the game log when he fouled out against a tough San Diego State squad back on November 10, but other than that, Waterman has been remarkably consistent. He's recorded seven or more boards in each of those four other contests and surpassed 15 points three times, including Thursday's career-best effort. The fifth-year senior will again be asked to carry the load for a short-handed BYU squad in Friday's Vegas Showdown finale.
