Scores 25 in Wednesday's loss
James ended with 25 points (11-21 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 2-5 FT), four rebounds, three assists, one block and one steal across 35 minutes during Wednesday's 76-70 loss to St. John's.
Impact
Coming off his best performance of the season where he scored 30 points and dished out 12 assists at Xavier, James had another strong outing Wednesday. He scored 25 points for the fourth time this season, shooting over 50 percent from the field versus a very good St. John's team. He only dished out three assists though, tied for his fewest since Nov. 12. It was a continuation of an excellent freshman season for James, and he's been particularly good since the start of 2026. He's now averaging 20.1 points, 3.5 rebounds, 6.1 assists and 1.8 steals since the start of the new year, establishing himself as one of the most prolific guards in the country.

Excellent in Tuesday's victory
James provided 21 points (8-14 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 4-6 FT), five rebounds, seven assists and three steals in 32 minutes during Tuesday's 86-62 win over Creighton.
Impact
James had another highly productive performance Tuesday as he scored 20 points for the sixth time this season. He's doing more than just scoring on the offensive end too as he recorded seven assists in his fourth consecutive contest. He added five rebounds and three steals on the defensive end. The freshman has been very good all season but he's really found his way as of late, averaging 23.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 6.8 assists and 2.0 steals over his last six contests, firmly establishing himself as one of the most productive players in the Big East.

Explodes with 38 in overtime win
James logged 38 points (13-20 FG, 4-6 3Pt, 8-11 FT), three rebounds, eight assists and two steals in 41 minutes during Monday's 105-104 OT victory over Providence.
Impact
James scored a season-high 38 points Monday as he led the Golden Eagles to an overtime victory in the high scoring affair. He also recorded a season-high eight assists in his second straight contest. He was very efficient from the field, hitting 65 percent of his field goal attempts and 66 percent of his shots from beyond the arc. He also only turned the ball over once despite his very high usage rate. Most importantly he played well in overtime, scoring six points and recording two assists, accounting for all but one of Marquette's points in the extra period. James has clearly found his stride as the Golden Eagles' point guard and should continue to grow and improve during the back half of this season.

Drops 31 in Saturday's loss
James ended Saturday's 76-73 loss to Villanova with 31 points (11-14 FG, 7-9 3Pt, 2-4 FT), one rebound, six assists and three steals over 37 minutes.
Impact
James had his best performance of the season Saturday, yet it was still not enough to secure a win over Villanova. He scored a season-high 31 points while shooting 11-of-14 from the field, including hitting a season-high seven of nine shots from beyond the arc. He also tied a season high with six assists, matching his total from the Golden Eagles' previous contest. On the defensive end James rounded out his performance with three steals and one rebound. James has shown flashes of elite production throughout his freshman campaign, but he hit a new high in Saturday's loss. He'll look to keep that momentum going Tuesday at St. John's.
