Leading scorer in final exhibition Heise led the Cyclones with 19 points (7-10 FG, 5-7 3Pt) to go along with two assists and two steals across 32 minutes in Sunday's 80-72 exhibition victory over Northwestern. Impact Heise is entering his sixth collegiate season and has already appeared in 126 career games (35 with Iowa State), so he brings a wealth of experience to an already-strong ISU roster. He wasn't a starter for Iowa State for most of the 2024-25 season, but that changed down the stretch, and he ended up producing double-digit scoring five times in the last 10 games of the season. Already an incredibly efficient three-point shooter (40.9 percent in 2024-25), Heise will resume his sharpshooter role this season, seemingly in a starting capacity. However, it's worth noting the Cyclones have been playing without projected leading scorer Tamin Lipsey (knee) in exhibition play, and considering he has a good chance to be available for the Nov. 3 opener, Lipsey will likely take away touches and usage from Heise and the rest of the Iowa State backcourt once meaningful games commence.
