Impact Heise started the two games Gilbert missed, and played excellent despite the Cyclones' two losses. The guard scored 12 and 13 points, respectively, while shooting 72.7 percent from the field including a total of five three-pointers. That performance should continue to earn him playing time, but it'll be off the bench against Arizona and moving forward.

Impact Gilbert was announced to be out on Friday, meaning Heise has likely known that he was set to draw the start. Under normal circumstances, Curtis Jones would likely get the start, but he's also out against Houston. Heise averages 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds this season.

It was the third time this season Heise has reached double figures and the third time he's connected on more than one from downtown. Heise did not score in his previous outing against Cincinnati but has now totaled 19 points in the two games sandwiched around that scoreless performance.

Impact Heise suffered the hand injury while practicing. Unfortunately for the sophomore, his earliest return date is when Northern Iowa hosts St. Bonaventure on Dec. 22. Heise will sit out at least eight games because of his injury.
