No. 23 Seton Hall edges No. 7 Texas 64-60 for 2nd top-10 win

Jared Rhoden scored 18 points and made the go-ahead basket as No. 23 Seton Hall knocked off its second top-10 team this season, beating No. 7 Texas 64-60

Scores a dozen in tune-up Cale provided 12 points (3-5 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 4-4 FT) and three rebounds over 21 minutes during Saturday's 113-67 win over Nyack.
Impact Cale's original target date for a return from a groin injury was Dec. 9 against Texas, so it was encouraging to see the fifth-year senior back in action early. He wasn't necessarily needed for much run in a blowout win against a DII opponent, so this was essentially a tune-up game. Look for Cale to be back in the starting five when the Pirates face their toughest non-conference opponent to date Thursday.

No. 25 Seton Hall bench helps roll past DII Nyack 113-67

No. 25 Seton Hall had a trio come off the bench and combine for 66 points and lead the Pirates to a 113-67 victory over D-II Nyack
DECEMBER 4, 2021 • Associated Press
Starting Saturday Cale (groin) will start Saturday's game against Nyack, Adam Zagoria of ZagsBlog.com reports.
Impact Cale was considered a game-time call for the contest but will ultimately give it a go for the Pirates, giving him a chance to tune up before Thursday's showdown versus Texas. Cale started the season out strong, averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds 2.3 steals and 2.0 assists over 25.3 minutes per game in the first three prior to his early departure versus Ohio State.

Game-time decision Saturday Cale (groin) is a game-time decision for Saturday's matchup against Nyack, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Cale missed the last three games due to a groin injury but has a chance to return Saturday. He started each of the first four contests of the 2021-22 campaign and averaged 9.0 points and 5.0 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game, but it's unclear whether he could have any limitations if he's ultimately available Saturday.

Out through Wednesday Seton Hall head coach Kevin Willard said Cale (groin), who sat out Sunday's 84-70 win over Bethune-Cookman, will remain on the sideline for Wednesday's game against Wagner, Adam Za...
Impact The news isn't entirely surprising, given that Seton Hall's Dec. 9 game against Texas has always been viewed as the likely target date for Cale's return to the lineup. Though Willard said Cale will be viewed as game-to-game after the matchup with Wagner, the fifth-year guard will likely get the green light to play versus Texas so long as he incurs no setbacks in practice over the next week and a half. Cale started each of the Pirates' first four games, averaging 9.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.5 assists in 21.5 minutes.

Out again Sunday Cale (groin) will not take the court Sunday against Bethune-Cookman, Jerry Carino of the Asbury Park Press reports.
Impact Cale will miss his second consecutive contest while dealing with a groin injury, though it's been previously insinuated that he's targeting a Dec. 9 return date. The Pirates will again use Bryce Aiken and Jahari Long in the starting lineup as a result of Cale's absence.
NOVEMBER 28, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Possible multi-game absence? Cale (groin) is hopeful to return prior to the Dec. 9 matchup against Texas, J.P. Pelzman of Rivals reports.
Impact These comments, relayed by Pelzman from coach Kevin Willard, seem to show a positive development, as Willard couldn't provide a timetable prior to Wednesday's game, stating "who knows how long muscles take" (per Jerry Carino of the Asbury Park Press). Seton Hall will be heavily favored in matchups against Bethune Cookman and Wagner, with or without Cale, so it might make sense to sideline the fifth-year senior multiple games to allow a full recovery. Jahari Long drew the start in Cale's stead Wednesday and recently received praise for his development in practice, but he ultimately saw only five minutes in the matchup. It seems Kadary Richmond and Jamir Harris were instead the main beneficiaries, logging 27 and 22 minutes off the bench, respectively.
NOVEMBER 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Not available Wednesday Cale (groin) will not be available for Wednesday's game against Cal, Dave Popkin of FS1 reports.
Impact Cale was injured in the first game of the Fort Myers Tip-Off on Monday against Ohio State. It's unclear how much longer he will be out of the lineup for. Seton Hall plays again on Sunday against Bethune-Cookman.

Johnson hits game-winning 3, Ohio St. tops No. 21 Seton Hall

Meechie Johnson Jr. made a game-winning 3-pointer with 2.3 seconds left and Ohio State beat No. 21 Seton Hall 79-76 in the Fort Myers Tip-Off
NOVEMBER 23, 2021 • Associated Press
Done for the day Cale will not return to Monday's game against Ohio State due to a lower body injury, Jerry Carino of the Asbury Park Press reports.
Impact Cale had a good start to the season going averaging 11.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.3 steals, and 2.0 assists through the first three games. It's unclear how long this injury might linger for, but the team will certainly be cautious this early in the season.
