Drops 10 in starting role Johnson ended Tuesday's 85-84 OT victory over Wake Forest with 10 points (4-8 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-3 FT), eight rebounds and two steals in 27 minutes.

Impact Johnson was in a big man-heavy starting five for Michigan against the Demon Deacons, and he contributed a solid if inefficient 10 points on eight shots. He did hold down the paint with eight rebounds, but it was a far cry from his opener against Oakland in which he shot a scorching 10-of-12 from the field. Nonetheless, the Illinois transfer is proving his worth to this squad.

Excellent in starting role Johnson recorded 24 points (10-12 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 4-4 FT), three rebounds, three assists and one block in 20 minutes during Monday's 121-78 win over Oakland.

Impact Johnson wasn't expected to start in this season opener, but he moved to the first unit after Yaxel Lendeborg was removed late from the first unit due to a hand injury. Lendeborg still played, but Johnson made the most of his start and led the Wolverines in scoring. It's unclear if he'll remain in the first unit if Lendeborg is deemed available to face Wake Forest next Tuesday, Nov. 11, but there's no doubt that Johnson made his presence felt in this campaign opener.

Actually starting in opener Johnson will get the start in Monday's season opener against Oakland with Yaxel Lendeborg (hand) out, Anthony Broome of On3.com reports.

Impact Johnson was originally out of the starting lineup for the Wolverines, but he'll actually get the start with teammate Lendeborg being a late scratch with a shooting hand injury. Johnson came in from Illinois this offseason, where he averaged 7.0 points and 6.7 rebounds on 17.7 minutes per game in his freshman campaign. He should have a sizable role with Michigan this entire year, whether in or out of the starting rotation.

Not starting vs. Oakland Johnson is not in the starting lineup for Monday's season opener against Oakland, Anthony Broome of On3.com reports.

Impact Johnson will play off the bench as Michigan starts out the 2025-26 season. The 6-foot-9 sophomore will cede starting center duties to Aday Mara, who transferred in from UCLA this offseason. Johnson should still have a sizable role off the bench in his first game with the Wolverines.

Impact Johnson didn't play in the exhibition against Cincinnati last week, but the big man will suit up for this one. This is a huge boost for the Wolverines, as the regular season is right around the corner. Johnson averaged 7.0 points and 6.7 boards per game while starting in eight of 30 appearances for Illinois in the 2024-25 campaign.

Deemed probable for exhibition Johnson (undisclosed) is probable for Michigan's exhibition match against St. John's on Saturday, per Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Impact Johnson missed the Wolverines' exhibition matchup with Cincinnati last week, but he should be good to go against the Johnnies on Saturday at MSG. The forward, who transferred from Illinois this offseason, is expected to hold down Michgian's front court alongside Yaxel Lendeborg in 2025-2026. He appears on track to be available for the Wolverines' opener on Nov. 3 regardless.
