Impact Uzan buried four of his six attempts from deep en route to posting a season-high scoring mark during Saturday's Big 12 championship win. The junior point guard was huge during the entire tournament, shooting 51.5-percent from the field, 58.3-percent from three and 92.3-percent from the charity stripe, averaging 17.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.3 assists during those three games. Impact Uzan set a new career high with 22 points while shooting 53.3-percent on 15 shots including connecting on 3-of-4 from downtown. The junior point guard also added a couple of boards, steals and helpers as the Cougars earned at least a share of the Big 12 regular season title with the big-time road win. The assist total was down in part because Uzan was relied upon for his scoring with Texas Tech putting the clamps on LJ Cryer. Uzan is averaging 11.1 points per game, though he was averaging 8.8 per contest prior to an 11-game run that has seen him average 14.6 points while shooting 51.3-percent from the floor and 52.3-percent from beyond the arc. He's also averaging 4.4 assists, 2.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals during that stretch as his production has taken a leap forward. He has become the main cog in the Cougar express and will look to help Houston reach its second Final Four in five years as we head into the upcoming NCAA tournament.

Impact Uzan was the catalyst of a balanced effort Monday, scoring 12 points and dishing out six assists as Houston saw five players reach double figures. Uzan's point total was second on the team behind L.J. Cryer's 14 but the ball distribution was key as Uzan not only led the team in helpers, but also did not commit a turnover and contributed two steals defensively. It's the fifth time during conference play and the seventh time this season the seasoned point guard has recorded at least five dimes without turning the ball over. It's also the 16th time this year he's had one or fewer turnovers in a game. There were other bigger names across the portal this past offseason but Kelvin Sampson's under-the-radar plucking of the former Oklahoma Sooner has paid massive dividends for the Cougars, who are once again national title contenders thanks in large part to the steady play of Uzan.
