Impact Carter was one of the top scores at Kansas State last season, so it's little surprise he's carried that play over to Baton Rouge. He and big man Jalen Reed figure to be the Tigers' top scoring tandem this season, and both put that on tape in the opener. If Carter, who shot 30 percent from deep last season, can even come close to the efficiency he displayed from downtown in the opener, his ceiling will increase dramatically.

Jalen Reed - Overpowers ULM Reed contributed 24 points (8-9 FG, 8-8 FT), eight rebounds and two blocks over 23 minutes during Wednesday's 95-60 win over ULM.
Impact Reed was simply too much for the Warhawks inside. The center's 24 points were a career-high, and LSU's offense will open up dramatically if the Tigers can consistently and reliably pitch the ball to the big man inside. With a soft out-of-conference schedule, Reed should continue to eat for the foreseeable future.

Impact Fountain is ready to roll for the Tigers' in their opener after missing LSU's exhibition game this offseason. The forward is slated to be a regular staple of the Tigers' front court coming off a year where he started 12 games, appeared in 33 and averaged 5.3 points and 4.2 rebounds.

Tyrell Ward - Out for ULM game Ward (undisclosed) is out for Louisiana State's game Wednesday against Louisiana-Monroe, according to Matthew Brune of On3.
Impact Ward will sit out Louisiana State's first game of the team's 2024-25 season, leaving the Tigers without one of their more improved players from last season. Ward re-established himself as a starter in February, and he finished his last nine games that season with averages of 11.9 points and 3.0 rebounds.
