Not starting Thursday
Lands is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against UMass-Lowell, Michelle Gardner of The Arizona Republic reports.
Impact
It's unclear if Lands' omission from the starting lineup is a tactical move or possibly injury related. The 6-8 Louisville transfer started the first two games of the year, averaging 12.5 points in 27.5 minutes per contest. He'll be replaced by Jose Perez in the first five and it will be worth seeing what his workload entails against a softer opponent in Thursday's matchup.

Scores 13 points
Lands logged 13 points (4-10 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 4-6 FT) and four rebounds across his 27 minutes during the Sun Devils' 71-56 loss Wednesday at Mississippi State.
Impact
Lands was the Sun Devils' best scorer Wednesday. Currently, they do not have a definite option to score more of their points. Perhaps he could be who the Sun Devils believe in. Occasionally, Lands logged more than 10 points across his games during Louisville's 2022-23 season.

Coming off bench
Lands will play a reserve role in Saturday's game at Notre Dame.

Lands has struggled recently and will presumably find himself in a reserve role Saturday as a result. He will be replaced in the starting lineup by JJ Traynor. It is unclear if this move is something the team will stick with going forward or just a one-time thing.

Inefficient across 31 minutes
Lands produced seven points (3-11 FG, 1-6 3Pt), three rebounds, one assist and one steal across 31 minutes during Tuesday's 70-69 loss to Syracuse.
Impact
Lands missed most of his shots, a shame considering the 11 field goal attempts and 31 minutes he logged were career highs. Still, he is a freshman and has plenty of opportunities to prove how good he can be, though that may be tough to come by during his first year of college basketball.

Decent effort off bench
Lands totaled 13 points (3-5 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 6-6 FT) and two rebounds in 21 minutes during Monday's 80-54 loss to Arkansas.
Impact
Lands has been playing off the bench in each of Louisville's first four games, but this scoring output came out of nowhere. He had scored only two points in his previous three games combined, and while he looked excellent in this one, he's not expected to perform at this level in upcoming contests. He should remain as a bench option when Louisville takes on Texas Tech on Nov. 22.

Strong showing in scrimmage
Lands had 16 points (7-13 FG, 2-4 3Pt), four rebounds, an assist and two steals across 32 minutes in Sunday's intrasquad scrimmage.
Impact
Lands came out with the green light to shoot and ending up tying El Ellis as the leading scorer on the winning side of the scrimmage. He was also the only player on both sides to make multiple three-point baskets. Lands is a four-star recruit and sits at the top of Louisville's 2022 class, which alone makes him a candidate to log heavy playing time in a backcourt that endured several big offseason losses. At 6-foot-8, he creates a matchup problem for opposing guards on the perimeter.
