Strong showing in opening round win Reese recorded 17 points (6-9 FG, 5-10 FT), nine rebounds, three assists and three blocks across 37 minutes during Thursday's 67-65 win over West Virginia.

Impact Reese got off to a slow start, but hung tough against a very physical West Virginia defense and was a real difference maker down the stretch. The sophomore is now averaging 13.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, and 2.3 blocks over his last eight games. Maryland will need every bit of that against Alabama to advance to the Sweet Sixteen.

Impact Reese has quietly been a steady post presence for the Terps as well as a quality fantasy asset. He's provided double-digit scoring in six consecutive games, and Sunday was his second double-double over that stretch, as well as a season-best rebounding total. Reese's consistent play has helped Maryland position itself favorably for an at-large bid in the NCAA Tournament on the back of a 14-1 home record, despite Sunday's road defeat.

Impact Reese appears to be heating up for the Terps, as he recently posted his best scoring effort of Big Ten play against one of the conference's toughest foes in Purdue, scoring 19 in the narrow loss. He was well on his way to breaking that against a tough, defensively-minded Badgers squad before foul trouble got in the way. The 6-9 sophomore is certainly on the right career trajectory, as he's significantly improved across the board in his second collegiate season.

Impact Reese and Hunter Dickinson were the Maryland-Michigan game's starting centers Sunday. Only one player excelled though. Dickinson logged 32 points and 12 rebounds against Maryland's big men, including Reese.

Impact Reese did not take part in a Dec. 22 contest due to a shoulder injury, and while he was cleared for Thursday's matchup, the sophomore forward came off the bench in favor of Patrick Emilien. The latter logged just 17 minutes and did not attempt a single field goal, however, so look for Reese to return to the starters in short order. Maryland has a pair of tough road matchups in tap in Michigan (Jan. 1) and Rutgers (Jan. 5).

Dealing with shoulder injury Reese (shoulder) did not play in the second of Wednesday's 87-60 loss to UCLA, Ryan McFadden of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Impact Reese was held out of the second half as a safety caution. The sophomore forwards injury is not considered a serious injury. Reese has plenty of time to heal up before Thursday's game against St. Peter's.
