Coming off bench
Sanon is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game versus Georgetown, Zach Braziller of the New York Post reports.
Impact
Sanon will be brought off the bench for the first time since Nov. 15. He's averaged 12.2 points over his last six games and should still see a regular share of minutes despite his out of the first unit.

Scores 12 in Saturday's loss
Sanon chipped in 12 points (0-5 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 12-12 FT), two rebounds and two steals over 19 minutes before fouling out of Saturday's 78-66 loss to Kentucky.
Impact
Sanon made his eighth consecutive start Saturday and contributed double digit points in his third straight outing. He remarkably did so without making a single shot from the field, instead earning all of his points by going a perfect 12 for 12 from the free throw line. He did not do much else versus the Wildcats, in part because he only logged 19 minutes of playing time. While his ability to get to the charity stripe was impressive, he'll look to hit more shots from the field Tuesday versus Harvard.

Coming off bench in opener
Sanon will come off the bench in Monday's season opener against Quinnipiac, Roger Rubin of Newsday reports.
Impact
Sanon will start the first game of the season off the bench as the Johnnies roll out a bigger lineup, with Dillon Mitchell being the one in his place. Sanon will likely be the sixth man still for the Red Storm, and he should be a big rotational player for the team this campaign. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged 9.9 points and 6.8 rebounds per game across 35 appearances for Cincinnati last season.

Withdrawing from NBA Draft
Sanon is withdrawing from the 2025 NBA Draft, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Sanon will use his collegiate eligibility's sophomore season. According to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.com, several reasons indicate why the underclassman selected St. John's. "New York City, Madison Square Garden, Rick Pitino. If we weren't the first to take it (the Red Storm's scholarship offer), I'd envy the person who did," the freshman's sports agent said. "The way Coach P teaches defense is something I want to invest my time into," his newest student told ESPN. During the 2024-25 Big 12 Conference's regular season, Sanon logged 10.3 points per game. So if Pitino and his coaching staff help their newest student's defense improve, he becomes more than a good guard.

Declares for draft
Sanon has declared for the 2025 NBA Draft but remains committed to St. John's and is expected to play in college in the 2025-26 season, according to Adam Zagoria of NJ.com.
Impact
During the 2024-25 Big 12 Conference's regular season, Sanon logged 10.3 points per game. So if Pitino and his coaching staff help their newest student's defense improve, he becomes more than a good guard. He's expected to go through the entire draft process, but in the end, he's likely to return to play for head coach Rick Pitino.

Commits to St. John's
Sanon has committed to St. John's, according to Jonathan Givony of ESPN.com.
Impact
According to Sanon's agent Derek Malloy, he encouraged the freshman to take an opportunity for a Hall of Fame coach. In college basketball, Pitino is among the most proven. "Coach Pitino believes in me and my potential and what he can do for me," Sanon told ESPN. "The way Coach P teaches defense is something I want to invest my time into." Offensively, Sanon is a lot more proven, which makes his commitment to St. John's big news. While enrolled at Arizona State, a Power Four college, Sanon logged 11.9 points per game. Against the Big 12 Conference's teams, he averaged 10.5 points.

Explodes for 28
Sanon totaled 28 points (11-20 FG, 4-5 3Pt, 2-3 FT), three rebounds, one assist and one block across 37 minutes during Saturday's 99-73 loss to Utah.
Impact
Sanon put together a 28-point masterpiece, draining 4-of-5 from beyond the arc while topping 20 points for the third time this season. Despite the return of Alston Mason after a one-game absence, Sanon remained in the starting lineup for the second-consecutive game in favor of Adam Miller, who missed the game with a hip injury. With the regular season's final week ahead and Arizona State floundering near the bottom of the Big 12, Sanon has played all but three minutes during his two starts, putting together back-to-back performances of 18 and 28 points. It seems a strong likelihood that Sanon has earned his opportunity for big minutes and more big performances as the season draws to a conclusion.

Helps fill void for Sun Devils
Sanon finished Wednesday's 91-81 loss to BYU with 18 points (7-17 FG, 0-6 3Pt, 4-8 FT), five rebounds and four assists over 40 minutes.
Impact
Sanon earned the starting nod, playing all 40 minutes while tallying his highest point total since the start of conference play. The freshman guard replaced an ill Alston Mason in the starting lineup for the Sun Devils, who were also without Jayden Quaintance (knee) and BJ Freeman, who was dismissed from the team over the weekend. Sanon played well during the early part of the season but suffered an ankle injury after the calendar turned to 2025 and has mostly struggled since, with Wednesday's performance marking just the second time since mid-December that he's reached double figures in the scoring column. If Mason's illness lingers into the weekend, Sanon would continue to see a lot of action in a softer matchup at Utah.
