Impact This is significant and somewhat shocking news for Cincinnati and the rest of the Big 12. James is coming off a breakout season with the Bearcats in which he started all 35 games and averaged 12.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists as the starting point guard. He was set to return in that role for the 2025-2026 season, but he's now no longer with the program. Head coach Wes Miller indicated that James is dealing with a "personal issue," but would't offer more specifics. Cincinnati must now scramble to find a new point guard, and Kentucky transfer Kerr Kriisa could be the most logical option to replace him.

With the Bearcats unlikely to hear their name called on Selection Sunday, James and his teammates will wait to see if they get a return invite to the NIT.
