Last season, James averaged 12.7 points, 3.0 rebounds and 3.5 assists, and should immediately resume his role as a difference maker on the court for Cincinnati.

About a month and a half into the 2025-26 Bearcats' regular season, they have added him back to their roster, with the reasons for his dismissal and return both unknown. Regardless, James adds guard depth to a Cincinnati side the only Big 12 Conference team with less than seven wins this season. During his 2024-25 season with UC, he logged 35 games (all starts) with 12.7 points, 3.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 1.3 three-pointers made per game. According to Neil Meyer of The Front Office News, room was available for James with the team unable to clear Lucas Atauri for its roster. Now, the question is when exactly James will make his 2025-26 debut, with his first opportunity scheduled for Wednesday against Alabama State.
