Eye-catching facilitation
Epps amassed five points (2-4 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 1-1 FT), one rebound, 11 assists and one block in 30 minutes during Tuesday's 94-57 win over Le Moyne.
Impact
Epps combination of smooth orchestration but little scoring volume makes for an interesting pairing, especially after he dropped 46 points in a preseason scrimmage against Wake Forest. A larger sample will indicate more realistic output for both scoring and facilitating, but Epps has upside as a lead guard.

Spotted warming up
Epps (concussion) was seen warming up ahead of Thursday's game against Penn State, Jeremy Werner of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
This is an encouraging sign to see Epps, who is a game-time decision, participating in warmups. Epps missed the last two games of the regular season with a concussion, but it appears he will be available to help the team in their opening game of the Big Ten Tournament in some capacity.

Tabbed as game-time call
Illinois head coach Brad Underwood said Epps (concussion) is a game-time decision for Thursday's matchup with Penn State in the second round of the Big Ten tournament, Jon Rothstei...
Impact
Epps missed the Illini's final two games of the regular season with the concussion, but he was cleared to make the trip to Chicago for the conference tournament, which suggests he has a shot at being cleared at some point before the weekend closes. Ramses Melendez has entered the starting five in both of the past two games and would presumably play alongside Terrence Shannon in the backcourt once again if Epps is ruled out ahead of Thursday's 6:30 p.m. ET opening tip.

Logs 12 points in loss
Epps closed with 12 points (3-11 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 5-6 FT), one rebound, two assists and three steals in 35 minutes during Saturday's 71-68 loss to Indiana.
Impact
Epps didn't shoot exceptionally well from the floor but still scored in double-figures for the sixth time in seven games since becoming a starter. This bodes well for his potential as he carves a role in his first collegiate season.

Scores 14 points
Epps ended Tuesday's 69-60 victory over Ohio State with 14 points (5-13 FG, 2-8 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and one assist across 31 minutes.
Impact
Epps scored more than 10 points during all but two of his nine games from Dec. 22 to Jan. 24. He logged a 10.3-point average across the nine-game span. The rate could make Epps continually favored over fellow guard Sencire Harris, who continues struggling to score at all.

Scores 21 from bench
Epps posted 21 points (8-12 FG, 5-9 3Pt), one assist and one steal across 23 minutes during Monday's 103-65 win over Monmouth.
Impact
Epps continues to improve early in the season, playing for at least 23 minutes in all three games but increasing his point tallies up to Monday's numbers, which was second only to Terrence Shanon for the Illini. While Skyy Clark has opened the season as the starter at PG and offers a greater emphasis on passing, Epps could see an increased role if he continues to make things happen.

Major minutes from bench
Epps recorded seven points (3-9 FG, 1-6 3Pt) and two rebounds in 21 minutes of Friday's 87-52 exhibition win over Quincy.
Impact
Epps played more minutes than starter Matthew Mayer, a sign that he might be coach Brad Underwood's sixth man in the rotation. With Luke Goode unavailable to start the season, Epps will hope he can shoot more efficiently if he's to take advantage of his opportunity with the Illini.
