GAME LOG

Ruled out against Marquette Bynum (groin) won't play Tuesday against Marquette, Morey Hershgordon of WPRI 12 reports.
Impact With Bynum set to miss his second consecutive contest, the Friars will again be hurting for depth at point guard. While a starting lineup is unlikely to arrive until closer to tipoff, it was Alyn Breed who notched his first career start after Bynum was ruled out Sunday against Xavier. Bynum's next chance to take the court will be Saturday against Georgetown.

Not playing Sunday Bynum (groin) has been ruled out in advance of Providence's game Sunday at Xavier, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact Head coach Ed Cooley deemed Bynum a game-time decision leading up to the contest, but the sophomore point guard wasn't on the court for warmups and is now set to miss his second contest in a row. In Bynum's stead, Alyn Breed will move up to the top unit for his first career start.

Absent from warmups Bynum (groin) is not dressed or warming up prior to Sunday's matchup against Xavier, Kevin McNamara of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact Initially considered a game-time call, it appears Bynum is trending in the wrong direction with respect to his availability Sunday. Since he'll presumably be out, look for David Duke to take on most of the ball-handling duties, though players like Alyn Breed and Brycen Goodine could be called upon in a pinch.

Game-time call Sunday Providence head coach Ed Cooley labeled Bynum (groin) a game-time decision ahead of Sunday's 11 a.m. ET tipoff at Xavier, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact Bynum missed the entire second half of Providence's two-point loss to Creighton on Jan. 2 with a left groin strain, but the week-long break in between games has provided the point guard with some much needed recovery time. That said, the sophomore apparently hasn't quite moved past the injury yet, so the Friars will presumably reassess him in warmups before determining if he's fit to play. Even if Bynum suits up, he may face some sort of playing-time restriction in Sunday's contest.
JANUARY 10, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Listed as day-to-day Head coach Ed Cooley labeled Bynum as day-to-day after the guard sustained a groin injury in Saturday's 67-65 loss to Creighton, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact Cooley added that if Providence were playing Wednesday, Bynum wouldn't be available, but the sophomore will fortunately have a few more days to heal up with the Friars off the schedule until Sunday's matchup with Xavier. If Bynum can't overcome the groin strain in time for Sunday, depth players like Alyn Breed, Brycen Goodine, Greg Gantt and Noah Horchler could all pick up some extra minutes.

Ruled out for second half Bynum was ruled out for the second half of Saturday's game against Creighton with an apparent left leg injury, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.
Impact Bynum appeared to be favoring his left leg midway through the first half and didn't play over the final four minutes of the half. He was replaced by Greg Gantt to begin the second half, and Bynum finishes the game with zero points (0-1 FG), two assists, one rebound and one steal over nine minutes. His next chance to play will be Jan. 10 against Xavier.
