Impact Diarra will get his first start of the season and the fifth of his career. The point guard is averaging 7.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.2 steals across 21.0 minutes this season. He replaces Aidan Mahaney in the starting five.

Produces off bench against Memphis Diarra closed Monday's 99-97 OT loss to Memphis with 12 points (1-6 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 9-10 FT), six rebounds, four assists and one steal over 29 minutes.

Impact Diarra put together a season-high 12 points and six rebounds against the Tigers, coming up big especially with 90 percent from the free-throw line. The senior guard has been a consistent force off the bench for the Huskies so far this campaign, and his efforts will be needed even more as tougher opponents near especially as December begins.

Impact Diarra has a lot of pressure this season to be the two-time defending champs' starting point guard with Tristen Newton graduating. Diarra showed that he is ready for that role controlling the offense with nine assists. UConn doesn't need him to score the ball a bunch with a number of other really talented scorers, but as long as he keeps the offense in flow coach Dan Hurley is going to keep riding with Diarra. The Huskies open the season on Nov. 6 against Sacred Heart.
