Leaving Lobos
New Mexico announced Tuesday that Muscadin has left the Lobos basketball program, Geoff Grammer of the Albuquerque Journal reports.
Impact
Muscadin is leaving the Lobos after appearing in just 12 games this season after arriving as a transfer from Kansas. The 6-foot-10, 230-pound center started in nine of the Lobos' first 11 games, but he was moved to the bench during Sunday's 90-72 loss to SMU, playing just eight minutes. The demotion to the second unit likely prompted Muscadin to pursue options elsewhere, and while he shouldn't have much difficulty finding another opportunity in Division I, he may not be eligible to compete in 2022-23 since he's already transferred one time in his career. For that reason, Muscadin could be a candidate to head to the JuCo ranks in 2022-23 before returning to Division I in 2023-24, when he would have up to two years of eligibility to use.

Coming off bench Sunday
Muscadin is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against SMU.
Impact
Msucadin is a surprise omission from the first five after starting nine of the last 10 games for the Lobos. Sebastian Forsling will begin the game on the floor in his place but Muscadin is still expected to hold a heavy role. Forsling averages less than 10 minutes per game this season and isn't expected to see much of a boost despite moving into the starting lineup.

Scores 18 in opener
Muscadin (undisclosed) put up 18 points (6-8 FG, 1-1 3Pt, 5-6 FT), two rebounds, two steals, two blocks and one assist in 22 minutes during Wednesday's 99-92 win against Florida At...
Impact
Muscadin missed Friday's exhibition contest due to a lack of practice time, but he looked plenty fresh off the bench in Wednesday's season opener. Birima Seck received the start at center but played only nine minutes, as Muscadin clearly operated at New Mexico's top big man.

Absence not discipline related
Muscadin did not take the court in Friday's exhibition victory over New Mexico Highlands.
Impact
According to Geoff Grammer of the Albuquerque Journal, the absence of Muscadin was due more to a lack of practice time than anything disciplinary related. The Lobos were able to get a look at Birima Seck in a starting role instead, who provided the team with six points and eight rebounds. It's unclear if Seck will hang on to that role for the Nov. 10 opener against Florida Atlantic, of if Muscadin will get back in the mix. Both could see an uptick in playing time early on with Valdir Manuel currently suspended indefinitely.

Cleared from suspension
Muscadin has been cleared to return to team activities, Geoff Grammer of the Albuquerque Journal reports.
Impact
Muscadin did miss practice Wednesday due to a travel issue, but other than that, he's clear to return to practice following a suspension for unspecified disciplinary reasons. It's uncertain if he'll be available for Friday's exhibition given the missed practice time, or if the Lobos will wait to deploy him in the Nov. 10 season opener against Florida Atlantic. There's been no update on that status of fellow center Valdir Manuel's team suspension, so there could be some minutes down low up for grabs early for New Mexico.

Suspended by team
Muscadin has been suspended for disciplinary matters, Geoff Grammer of the Albuquerque Journal reports.
Impact
Both Muscadin and Valdir Manuel did not play in last weekend's scrimmage because of suspension. It's unclear if that will cost any of them from missing the first game of the regular season next week against Florida Atlantic.

Warming up Thursday
Muscadin (leg) is warming up ahead of Thursday's game against UTEP, Scott Chasen of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Muscadin dealt with a leg bruise recently, but it appears as though he could be active for Thursday's matchup. Even if he's able to suit up, he's unlikely to see significant playing time for the Jayhawks.

Minor leg injury
Muscadin is day-to-day with a leg bruise, Scott Chasen of 247Sports.com reports.
Impact
Muscadin sees very inconsistent minutes in a depth role off the bench, though the 6-10 freshman has appeared in 10 games this season. The minor injury doesn't appear to be a big concern, but his absence from the rotation will hardly be noticeable as things start to tighten up prior to postseason play.
