Last Night in College Basketball: Michigan State Thrives, Florida Falters

Thomas Haugh - Double-doubles with five assists Haugh finished Friday's 90-78 win over Providence with 16 points (3-9 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 9-11 FT), 12 rebounds, five assists, one block and one steal across 34 minutes.

Impact The Gators were down Alex Condon (head), but Haugh filled in admirably for his fellow forward. The 6-9 junior had his second double-double and set a season high in assists. He struggled from the field, but was able to force his way to the free throw line. The Gators will likely need Condon on Tuesday against Duke, but Haugh has shown he can produce with or without his frontcourt partner.

Urban Klavzar - Hot shooting continues Klavzar had 18 points (5-12 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-5 FT), one rebound and one assist in 30 minutes during Friday's 90-78 win over Providence.

Impact Klavzar was coming off a 20-point game in the loss against TCU. He has scored at least 15 points in three of his last four games. While the starting backcourt of Boogie Fland and Xaivian Lee has struggled, the 6-1 junior may be making inroads to more playing time. He played 29.5 points in the last two games, so the change may be afoot.

Xaivian Lee - Scores a season-high 20 points Lee notched 20 points (7-16 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and four assists across 36 minutes during Friday's 90-78 win over Providence.

Impact Lee had been in a deplorable slump and had hit just 4-of-31 shots (12.9 percent) in his previous four games and did not score in double digits in any of those games. He had only managed 3.8 assists during that span. Maybe the performance against the Friars will open the basket for the 6-4 senior.

Boogie Fland - Goes for 17 points Fland racked up 17 points (6-18 FG, 4-10 3Pt, 1-2 FT), two rebounds, three assists and one block in 35 minutes during Friday's 90-78 victory over Providence.

Impact The Arkansas transfer has seen his numbers fall across the board with the Gators. He was the clear offensive initiator for the Razorbacks last season, but his role is less defined thus far. Fland has scored in double digits in five of seven games, but only twice more than 12. He had one of his better games from the perimeter against the Friars, so maybe that will mean better things are coming along. Fland and the Gators face Duke on Tuesday.

Alex Condon - Tending to head injury Condon won't play in Friday's game against Providence due to a head injury, Chris Harry of FloridaGators.com reports.

Impact Condon took a hit to the head in Thursday's loss to TCU, and he'll take a seat Friday as a precaution. Micah Handlogten will replace Condon in the starting lineup, while Viktor Mikic could see a larger role. Condon's next chance to play will come Tuesday against Duke.

Alex Condon - Not starting Friday Condon isn't part of the Gators' starting five for Friday's game against Providence, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Impact Condon started each of the Gators' first six games, averaging 15.7 points, 8.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and a combined 2.2 steals-plus-blocks over 29.3 minutes. Considering the star forward started 35 of 37 games last season as well, it's possible he's dealing with some sort of injury or illness. Micah Handlogten will step into the first unit.
