Dylan Disu Leads Texas to Blowout Win Over West Virginia The Texas Longhorns picked up just their second home win in Big 12 play on Saturday against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Beast mode Disu ended with 28 points (10-19 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 5-5 FT), 10 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and three steals over 31 minutes during Tuesday's 70-65 loss to Iowa State.

Impact Disu was a beast on Tuesday with his full arsenal on display during a 28-point performance that represented his second double-double of the season. Disu had scored only six points during the first 30 minutes of the game but exploded for 22 in the final 10 minutes in a desperate effort to bring Texas back from a deficit that reached as high as 18. Disu, who also contributed three steals and two blocks on the other end of the floor, is one of the most versatile big men in the country, capable of scoring anywhere on the floor while also being a prime contributor on the glass and on defense. Since the start of Big 12 play, Disu is shooting 51.6% from the floor and is draining 2.0 threes per game at a 50% clip, averaging 19.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.2 blocks over 28.9 minutes per contest.

He also acted as the team's main ball distributor, leading the team with four assists and added a steal and a block to round out his impressive night. Disu is getting more comfortable with each passing game since his return 10 games ago following an eight month layoff due to a foot injury. Over his last five games, Disu is averaging 19.2 points, 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists, 2.0 steals and 0.8 blocks.

First start of season Disu is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against Cincinnati.

Impact It's been a long road back for Disu after missing the first nine games of the season with a foot injury. He has come off the bench in his first five games back and played pretty well in limited minutes. Kadin Shedrick has done a great job early in the season as the team's starting center, but it is time for Disu to take that role going into Big 12 play. Disu had a very strong close to the 2022-23 campaign.

Impact It had been a while since any updates regarding Disu's injury status were released, but news surfaced early Saturday morning that he would be active for the Longhorns after missing the first nine games of the season. He came off the bench, but still logged more minutes and was far more productive than starting center Kadin Shedrick, so it wouldn't be surprising to see a change take place in the near future. If Disu isn't rostered in a fantasy league, look to rectify that immediately regardless of format. He's a player that really came on down the stretch last season, putting up 17.8 points and 9.0 rebounds over the five games leading up to his season-ending injury.

Impact Disu hasn't taken the floor for the Longhorns yet in 2023-24 due to a foot issue, but he'll see his first action of the campaign in this one. The senior averaged 8.8 points and 4.4 boards per game last year, starting all 36 of his appearances, and he figures to be a regular contributor this year as well. It wouldn't be shocking if he logs limited minutes in his first action of the season and gradually ramps it up moving forward.

Impact Disu sat out the 2023-24 Longhorns' first five games because of his foot injury. However, On3.com reported that he was seen running Monday. Disu being able to test his foot indicates it is healing. Perhaps he could be available for the Longhorns' next game, currently scheduled Sunday against Wyoming.

Impact Disu is an impactful player who will almost undoubtedly regain a starting spot at some point this season, but the lack of a timetable nearly eight months after suffering the original injury is definitely a bit concerning. Texas next hosts Rice on Wednesday, and with Disu presumably still sidelined, the frontcourt rotation should continue to see a lot of Dillon Mitchell, Ze'Rik Onyema and Kadin Shedrick.
