Impact It was no surprise that the Seahawk leading scorer showed up when it mattered most. Newby struggled in the quarterfinal matchup with Hampton, scoring just nine points, but bounced back in a big way with 24 points in the semifinals and the 17 in the final. Despite poor shooting from three-point range, Newby found other ways to affect the game and forced defenders to foul him, where he took advantage of his 89-percent free throw percentage. Newby blossomed in his fifth collegiate season nearly doubling his collegiate career scoring average while still maintaining a respectable 35.7 percent three-point average as the team's primary shot taker.
