Big effort falls short
Jones racked up 26 points (9-17 FG, 4-9 3Pt, 4-4 FT), four rebounds and three assists over 32 minutes during Sunday's 91-78 loss to Ole Miss.
Impact
Jones came off the bench to put the Cyclones on his back but it wasn't enough to prevent Iowa State from bowing out in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. overcome the red-hot Rebels. The senior reserve guard shot better than 50-percent on 17 shots from the floor and connected on 4-of-9 from downtown, the eighth time he's hit at least that many triples in a game. Jones' collegiate career came to a disappointing end but had a huge season for the Cyclones, being named the Big 12 conference sixth man of the year while leading the team with 17.4 points including five performances with 25 or more points.

Tacks on 17 off bench
Jones ended Friday's 82-55 win over Lipscomb with 17 points (8-15 FG, 1-3 3Pt), one rebound, two assists, one block and two steals across 27 minutes.
Impact
Jones returned to the bench after starting the Cyclones' loss in the Big 12 Tournament to BYU, but that didn't necessarily diminish his impact. While he couldn't match the season-high 31 points he scored in that game, he dropped an efficient 17 as a spark-plug off the bench and Iowa State's second leading scorer. The Cyclones are at their most dangerous when Jones is available to deploy off the bench, so expect this approach to continue throughout the tournament.

Not part of starting lineup
Jones is not part of Iowa State's starting lineup for its game Friday against Lipscomb at Milwaukee, according to Eugene Rapay of The Des Moines Register.
Impact
Tamin Lipsey (groin) is available, so Iowa State's team will opt to have him part of its starting lineup Friday. He and Jones play the same position, and it will be the latter taking a seat despite his recent excellence, including a 31-point game during ISU's latest matchup. Regardless, Jones reverts to his usual role as arguably the 2025 NCAA Tournament's best backup for a team, with 16.9 points and 2.6 three-pointers made per game to back him up.

Carries Cyclones in tourney exit
Jones ended Thursday's 96-92 loss to BYU with 31 points (11-22 FG, 7-15 3Pt, 2-2 FT), three rebounds, three assists and two steals over 35 minutes.
Impact
Jones scored 24 of his 31 points in the first half, but it wasn't quite enough to propel the Cyclones to victory. Jones stepped up for an Iowa State squad that was missing starting guards Tamin Lipsey (Groin) and Keshon Gilbert (strain), connecting on six-straight from beyond the arc during a four-minute stretch in the first half that carried the Cyclones to a halftime lead. The Big 12 sixth man of the year started his ninth game of the season and is now averaging 17.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 1.6 steals during those nine starts. Though Iowa State will not successfully defend their conference championship this season, they'll now have a full week to get healthy prior to the start of next week's NCAA Tournament.

Added to starting lineup
Jones is part of the Cyclones' starting lineup for their quarterfinal game Thursday against BYU at Kansas City, according to Eugene Rapay of The Journal News.
Impact
Currently, the Cyclones are dealing with a backcourt injury bug. Keshon Gilbert (strain) is out, and Tamin Lipsey recently recovered from a groin injury. Considering both in what will be a high-stakes game for better seeding in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, Jones will be part of the Cyclones' starting lineup for their upcoming quarterfinal game of this year's Big 12 tourney. In B12 starts this season, Jones is averaging 17.7 points, 6.6 rebounds and 2.3 three-pointers made. Those stats arguably certify him as the Big 12's best bench player, especially considering a Lipsey-Gilbert duo got most of Iowa State's backcourt starts in conference play.

Stars as sixth-man
Jones recorded 24 points (5-15 FG, 3-9 3Pt, 11-12 FT), five rebounds, five assists and two steals over 34 minutes during Saturday's 73-57 win over Kansas State.
Impact
Jones struggled from the field but took advantage of 12 trips to the charity stripe to post his 11th 20-point performance of the season. It was also the second time this season he's added at least five boards, five assists and two steals during one of those 20-point efforts. The Cyclones were missing Keshon Gilbert for the third time in five games but Jones maintained his role as one of the nation's top sixth-men, averaging 17.3 points during the 22 games he's come off the pine. He'll play an important role for the 10th ranked Cyclones as they enter the postseason as a strong contender in both the Big 12 and NCAA tournaments.

Scores 16 off bench
Jones provided 16 points (4-12 FG, 2-6 3Pt, 6-6 FT), two rebounds and one steal over 35 minutes during Tuesday's 88-85 2OT loss to BYU.
Impact
Jones continues to amp things up following missing one game with an illness, scoring 16 points on 12 shot attempts across the 35 minutes, the most he's totaled in each category in the three games since returning from that one-game absence. Despite coming off the bench for 21 of his 29 appearances this season, Jones leads the Cyclones with 16.7 points per game while shooting 42.5-percent from the floor and 36.8-percent from deep. Jones is capable of taking over games, scoring 20 or more on 10 occasions, and will be relied upon to lead the team offensively as they look to defend their Big 12 tournament championship when the event commences next week.
