Impact Smith was able to hit shots against the overmatched Division II opponent. The 6-4 senior spent the last three seasons with SMU and provided 5.9 points and 2.1 rebounds in 2024-25 off the Mustang bench. He should have a bigger role with the Owls and lead the team's defense.

Impact Smith was previously tending to an undisclosed injury, but the SMU transfer looks to be a full go to make his Rice debut. He averaged 5.9 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists across 21.3 minutes per game last season for the Mustangs.
