Sits out again
David (knee) was inactive during Thursday's 75-56 loss to UConn.
Impact
David has missed four straight games for Butler with a knee injury. The 6-foot-6 senior underwent a knee surgery in the offseason after his 2020-2021 season was cut short with a knee injury. David has played in 12 games for the Bulldogs this season, averaging 1.2 points and 1.5 rebounds on 9.5 minutes per game. David's expected status for Sunday's game against Providence is unknown.

Won't play Tuesday
David (knee) won't play Tuesday against UConn.
Impact
David will be sidelined for a third straight matchup, as he continues to deal with a lingering knee injury. The senior will have an opportunity to return to the floor in Butler's next contest Thursday against UConn.

Not available Sunday
David (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against Villanova, David Woods of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact
It's unclear if his nagging knee pain has anything to do with his offseason knee surgery. Either way, the 6-foot-6 senior is averaging just 1.2 points and 1.5 rebounds in 9.5 minutes this season, so his absence shouldn't impact Butler's rotation.

Clean bill of health
David (knee) has been fully cleared for all basketball activities, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
David missed the first 13 games of the shortened 2020-21 season due to a knee injury before gradually easing back in. He even drew a couple starts in conference play before another knee issue resurfaced. While he was able to finish out the season playing single-digit minutes, it's noteworthy that Rothstein felt he needed to check his status with the head coach. David is unlikely to start for the Bulldogs this year, but he's still a fifth-year senior who brings valuable experience to the rotation.

Unavailable Sunday
David will not be available for Sunday's game against Villanova due to an apparent knee injury.
Impact
David didn't make his debut this year until Jan. 30 as he was on the mend from a torn ACL he suffered the prior season. It's unclear if this instance is related to the old injury or if it's an entirely new issue as he unfortunately won't be able to take the floor during his Senior Day. His next chance to suit up will come March 6 in the team's final regular-season game against Creighton.

Returns to bench Wednesday
David will come off the bench in Wednesday's game against Seton Hall, David Woods of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact
David had started each of the last two games with Bryce Nze out due a groin injury. With Nze back, David should return to his usual role off the bench going forward.

Making first career start
David will make his first career start Wednesday against Marquette, David Woods of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact
Following silent minutes in his first four appearances, David stepped up after Bryce Nze (groin) departed the previous contest and compiled nine points, three assists and a rebound. He could see even more minutes Wednesday with Nze sidelined Wednesday, making him a potentially viable fantasy option.

Inactive Saturday
David (knee) won't take part in Saturday's game against Creighton, David Woods of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact
David has yet to play this season while coming back from a torn ACL suffered last January. He dressed for a game earlier in January but ultimately didn't play. It's unclear when he'll make his season debut, but his next opportunity comes Tuesday at DePaul.

Dressed but no action
David (knee) did not take the court Wednesday against Georgetown.
Impact
While David was presumably available according to earlier reports, the senior ultimately did not see any action. He averaged double-digit minutes in both his sophomore and junior seasons with the Bulldogs, so he'll presumably get some usage in a depth capacity once Butler decides he's in the clear. David's next chance to debut will be Saturday against UConn.

Will be available Wednesday
David (knee) will dress for Wednesday's game against Georgetown, David Woods of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact
David will make his season debut after recovering from a torn ACL last January. As for how much he will play, that seems very much up in the air. The coaching staff will probably wait a couple weeks for David to get his legs under him before turning him loose.

Won't play Saturday
David (knee) remains out for Saturday's Crossroads Classics game against Indiana, David Woods of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact
Davis is still going through the late stages of his rehab from ACL surgery he had back in January. The senior has recently still been going through non-contact drills in practice and remains without a firm timetable to return.

Still doing non-contact work
David (knee) continues to participate in non-contact portions of practice with a goal of being able to return this season, according to the Butler basketball official site.
Impact
It doesn't appear the needle has moved a ton from when David was first cleared for non-contact work in mid-November. Nonetheless, considering he suffered the torn ACL back on Jan. 21, it was never expected that he'd be ready early in the year. While a return this season may still be on the table, a redshirt year seems to look like a better option with each passing game missed.

Gets clearance for non-contact work
David (knee) has been cleared to partake in non-contact work, Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports reports.
Impact
It was already reported that David won't be ready for the start of the 2020-21 season, but his step forward in practice is at least a sign that his knee is coming along reasonably well. The senior's clearance for contact should be a better indicator that he's finally drawing close to making his season debut.

Not ready for start of season
Head coach LaVall Jordan said Wednesday that David (knee) is "on track" in his rehab, but the senior forward won't be available for Butler's season opener, David Woods of The India...
Impact
Butler's 2020-21 schedule remains in flux due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but based on Jordan's comments, David doesn't look like he'll be ready to go if the Bulldogs start playing in early-to-mid December. David, who is still recovering from an ACL tear suffered last January, is still expected to be available for the majority of Butler's games, barring any further setbacks in his recovery from surgery. Before sustaining his injury last season, David averaged 2.6 points and 1.8 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game.
