Cam Ward - College Basketball News & Rumors

Out for exhibition game Ward (ankle) is out for Friday's exhibition game against Incarnate Word, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.

Impact Returning to Michigan State for his sophomore season is Ward, who played 34 games for the 2025-26 Spartans. MSU's head coach Tom Izzo said that if Friday's game were a regular-season matchup, the second-year student would be available, so it appears that his injured ankle is not in too bad shape. The 2026-27 Spartans' preseason schedule features two more games, the earliest of which is scheduled for Oct. 20 against Connecticut, and perhaps they can use Ward then.

Last Night in College Basketball: UNC Upset Duke For a Tobacco Road W

Offers five points off bench Ward supplied five points (2-2 FG, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, two assists, one block and one steal over 18 minutes during Wednesday's 76-73 loss to Minnesota.

Impact Ward was solid in his 18 minutes, but didn't impact the game a whole lot and certainly didn't do enough to help the Spartans avoid an upset at the hands of a feisty Minnesota squad. Ward has been a minor bench player for head coach Tom Izzo in his freshman season, averaging 5.0 points and 4.4 rebounds, so this performance was about status quo for the forward. Fantasy-wise, he's not bringing much to the table at this point.

Productive off the bench Ward registered seven points (3-5 FG, 1-1 FT) and seven rebounds over 15 minutes during Thursday's 76-66 victory over Northwestern.

Impact Ward was Michigan State's third-leading rebounder in just 15 minutes of action in the win over Northwestern. The freshman forward has been active on the glass as of late, with 13 rebounds in his last two games. He'll need to do the dirty work in the paint to help earn more minutes, which is exactly what he's doing. Don't expect a huge outing from Ward any time soon, but the forward has played his small role well thus far in East Lansing.

Scoreless in return Ward (hand) scored zero points (0-4 FG) and hauled in one rebound across 11 minutes in Saturday's loss to the Spartans.

Impact Ward made his return to the lineup after sitting out Tuesday's win over Iowa but ended up having a poor performance. He will look to bounce back during the Dec.13 matchup versus Penn State.

DECEMBER 6, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Officially questionable Saturday Ward (hand) is questionable for Saturday's game versus Duke.

Impact Ward missed this past Tuesday's win over Iowa, but he could be primed for a return now against Duke. The freshman forward has already been positioned into a meaningful role with the Spartans this season, averaging 9.0 points and 5.1 rebounds across seven games.

Doesn't play Tuesday, probable Sat. Ward (hand) didn't play in Tuesday's win over Iowa but is likely to play in Saturday's game against Duke, Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Impact Ward went through shootaround and warmups ahead of Tuesday's game and was reportedly good to go. However, he never left the bench. Ward, who wore a wrap on his right wrist during warmups Tuesday, is likely to be available for Saturday's clash with Duke.

DECEMBER 2, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Good to go vs. Iowa Ward (hand) is available against Iowa on Tuesday night, per Chris Solari of the Detroit Free Press.

Impact Ward reportedly went through walkthroughs and partook in warmups with a wrap on his right wrist, but he'll be good to go against Iowa. Ward has yet to miss a game this season, and that won't change against the Hawkeyes. The freshman forward averages 9.0 points and 5.1 rebounds.

DECEMBER 2, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Warming up Ward is wearing a brace on his right wrist but is participating in shootaround ahed of Tuesday's game against Iowa, Jonah Wilson of Spartans Illustrated reports.

Impact Ward is officially listed as questionable for the contest, but his pregame participation bodes well for his availability. Ward has played an important role off the bench for the Spartans this season.

DECEMBER 2, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Iffy for Tuesday Ward (undisclosed) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against Iowa.

Impact Ward briefly left MSU's most recent game with a wrist injury but returned to the contest. It's unclear if the wrist issue is the reason for his questionable tag Tuesday night. Ward is averaging 9.0 points and 5.1 rebounds across 16.6 minutes per game.

Returns Thursday Ward (wrist) has checked back into Thursday's game against North Carolina, Graham Couch of the Lansing State Journal reports.

Impact Ward exited the game earlier in the first half, but he'll be back in the mix after wrapping his wrist. Ward should see regular minutes off the bench now that the medical staff has given him the green light to play.

Impact It's unclear when or where Ward suffered the injury, but he was holding his right wrist in pain. It's unclear if he'll return to the game.
