Impact Carter has managed to increase both his scoring average and shooting percentage from last year's marks at Kansas State, and he now leads the Tigers with a 17.9 ppg scoring average. LSU basketball also got some bad news Wednesday with the announcement that starting center Jalen Reed (11.1 ppg) will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL, so Carter may be forced to take on even more of the scoring load.

Impact Carter was one of the top scores at Kansas State last season, so it's little surprise he's carried that play over to Baton Rouge. He and big man Jalen Reed figure to be the Tigers' top scoring tandem this season, and both put that on tape in the opener. If Carter, who shot 30 percent from deep last season, can even come close to the efficiency he displayed from downtown in the opener, his ceiling will increase dramatically.

The drop in production in the second half could be a product of his workload as the 39-minutes played actually represents a dip in playing time from the previous three games which each went to overtime. Carter has averaged 41.3 minutes per game over the last four with 18.0 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 2.0 steals.

Impact Carter continued his largely limited role for the Wildcats despite starting his 36th game in a row Saturday night. Over the team's four games in the NCAA Tournament, the 6-foot-3 sophomore averaged 7.3 points and 3.3 rebounds while playing 27.3 minutes per game. Carter averaged 6.2 field-goal attempts per game over the course of the season, though he could be in line for additional opportunities next season given that Kansas State's leading scorers Keyontae Johnson and Markquis Nowell are both expected to move onto the pro level.
