Impact Newell finished with 17 points and three rebounds during Saturday's loss to Butler. The 6-foot-8 freshman has immediately asserted himself at California, starting in nine of 11 games, averaging 7.5 points, three rebounds and 0.6 steals on 25.1 minutes per game. Newell and the Golden Bears, who have started the season 0-11, will look to turn things around against Santa Clara on Dec. 18.
