Impact Miller underwent much scrutiny before Alabama's latest game Wednesday. Former teammate Darius Miles was a member of the Crimson Tide earlier in 2023, but on Jan. 15, he was charged with capital murder in connection to a 23-year-old woman's death. A preliminary hearing happened Tuesday and revealed Miller allegedly brought the gun used, but prosecutors currently don't appear to have enough evidence to bring criminal charges to the potential NBA lottery pick, and the school doesn't intend to punish him despite his alleged connection to the case. Despite the cloud of uncertainty above Miller, the distraction didn't seem to play much of a role, as Miller had a career-best scoring total and even cashed in the game-winning basket in overtime. In between Jan. 13 and Feb. 23, Miller has averaged 21.0 points across 12 games played. Fantasy managers will not have many options more promising than him if he can continue to be available despite the surrounding allegations.

Impact News broke on Tuesday that Miller allegedly brought the gun that was used in a deadly shootout in Tuscaloosa back on January 15 to former teammate Darius Miles and another man. According to police, there was nothing that they were able to charge Miller with. Miller and the Alabama basketball program continue to cooperate with law enforcement and no further action has been taken against Miller at this time. It doesn't appear like the school, conference, or NCAA is going to step in and suspend Miller for his possible role in the death of 23-year-old woman. At the very minimum it will be a distraction to the team who appears well on their way to a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament. Miller is averaging 18.7 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 3.0 three-pointers this season and is likely to be named AP All-America First Team and a top pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
