Impact Bonke had been limited to a combined 15 points on 6-of-17 (35.3 percent) from the field in his two previous games. Coach Aaron Fearne may have used starting as a motivational tool and it seemed to work as the 7-2 center forced his way to the free throw repeatedly. He had just his second double-digit scoring game in the last eight games. Bonke and the 49ers host Wichita State on Saturday.

Impact The 7-2 center had combined for just 14 rebounds in his three previous games. He had double-digit rebounds in four of his first six games, but had been held off the glass prior to Sunday. Bonke had seen his playing time cut and did not play more than 20 minutes in those three games. As long as he gets consistent playing time, the junior could be among the best centers in the American Conference.

Impact Bonke has played like a man possessed in the early season with the 49ers. Through three games, he has a pair of double-doubles with averages of 11.0 points, 10.7 rebounds and 2.7 blocks. The 7-2 Providence transfer is clearly the main man in the Charlotte frontcourt and might be a factor in the American Conference regular season play.
