Plays through pain in loss Hoggard chipped in 17 points (8-17 FG, 0-2 3Pt, 1-2 FT), four rebounds, 10 assists and two steals over 34 minutes during Saturday's 75-70 loss to Purdue.

Impact Hoggard went to the locker room after rolling his ankle early in Saturday's matchup, but he returned to the floor and played a season-high 34 minutes after Tyson Walker sustained an ankle injury of his own. The sophomore stepped up by leading the team in scoring and assists en route to his second double-double of the season. Walker's status for the NCAA Tournament is unclear, but Hoggard should continue to see increased usage if Walker is unavailable next week.

Back to full health Hoggard is back to feeling 100 percent after being limited with an illness down the stretch of the regular season, Kyle Austin of MLive.com reports.

Impact This will be a boost for the Spartans' backcourt with the postseason set to get underway Thursday against Maryland in the Big Ten Tournament. Hoggard played less than 20 minutes in each of the final three games of the season while battling a non-COVID-related illness and his effectiveness was sapped in that time with a combined 12 points in those three outings. Look for Hoggard to play closer to his usual minutes workload (22.0 in conference play prior to illness) as the Spartans take aim at a run in the tournament.

Shifts back to bench Hoggard isn't starting Sunday's game against Maryland, Kyle Austin of MLive.com reports.

Impact Hoggard rejoined the starting five Thursday against Ohio State after coming off the bench the previous contest, and he'll move to the bench again Sunday. He's struggled in those past two contests with averages of 4.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 14.5 minutes.

Impact Hoggard was limited in last Tuesday's game with an illness, but he will jump into the starting lineup on Thursday in place of Tyson Walker. Hoggard should be able to do better than two points this time around.

Impact Hoggard had been on a strong streak of five consecutive starts, over which he averaged 8.8 points and 6.6 rebounds in 25.6 minutes. He was moved to the bench Tuesday in favor of Tyson Walker, as Hoggard had been experiencing symptoms of a non-COVID illness. Walker did appear to tweak his knee in the matchup despite logging 29 minutes, so hopefully Hoggard will be healthier and available to play more minutes as the Spartans close out the regular season with matchups against Ohio State (Thursday) and Maryland (Sunday).

Impact Hoggard exited Saturday's win over Purdue with what appeared to be a leg cramp, but that issue won't affect his availability Tuesday. Instead an illness will force him out of the starting five, though the sophomore guard will still be available off the bench. Tyson Walker will start in his place.

Impact Hoggard got some fluids on the sideline but was unable to retake the floor following the final timeout. It will still be worth monitoring his status leading up to Tuesday's game against Michigan, but, barring word suggesting the issue is more severe, it seems likely he will be available Tuesday.

Impact Hoggard's ankle tweak limited his play Tuesday, forcing the sophomore guard to play uncomfortable much of the second half. Hoggard has started two consecutive games for the Spartans and averages 6.6 points, 5.0 assists and 2.1 rebounds in 19.3 minutes per game this season.

Impact Hoggard made his first start of the season Saturday and produced his most well-rounded line of the season. Tyson Walker moved to the bench in a corresponding move but also found success with 15 points (5-10 FG, 3-6 3Pt, 2-2 FT), two rebounds and two steals. It remains to be seen if Hoggard will remain in the lineup going foward.
