Petar Musa converts late PK for MLS-leading 18th goal and FC Dallas beats Sporting KC 4-3

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — Petar Musa converted a penalty kick in second-half stoppage time for his MLS-leading 18th goal of the season, and FC Dallas beat Sporting Kansas City 4-3 on Saturday night.

Musa moved into a tie with Miami’s Lionel Messi in the race for the Golden Boot Award after scoring 18 goals for the second straight season. He's tied for the most single-season goals in club history with Jason Kreis, Kenny Cooper and Jesus Ferreira.

Dallas scored three straight goals in the first half to take a 3-2 lead at the break. Logan Farrington pulled Dallas within 2-1 in the 27th and Musa headed in his first goal of the game three minutes later. Kaick added one-touch finish from distance in the 45th for his second goal of the season.

Taylor Calheira scored two goals for Kansas City (4-16-3). He opened the scoring in the fourth and Stephen Afrifa added a goal in the 20th for a 2-0 lead. Calheira tied it at 3-all in the 78th by heading in a cross by Emir Karic.

Dallas (10-6-7) played at Toyota Stadium for the first time since May 13 — following 11 road matches — due to an ongoing renovation.
