Struggling Panthers rule out 6 players for Sunday's game at Washington, 3 others listed as doubtful
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers are on a three-game losing streak and now they have a growing list of injuries to deal with entering Sunday’s game at Washington.
The Panthers (1-5) ruled out linebackers Josey Jewell (hamstring/groin), Claudin Cherelus (hamstring) and Jon Rhattigan (knee/illness), offensive tackle Taylor Moton (triceps), running back Jonathan Brooks (knee) and defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson (knee), while outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (shoulder), defensive tackle Jaden Crumedy (ankle) and safety Sam Franklin (foot) are listed as doubtful.
The Panthers also listed wide receivers Diontae Johnson (ankle/ribs) and David Moore (knee), offensive tackle Yosh Nijman (knee), center Andrew Raym (concussion), cornerback Dane Jackson (hamstring), safety Nick Scott (hamstring) and tight end Tommy Tremble (back) as questionable.
That is in addition to the Panthers already losing three key starters — defensive end Derrick Brown, linebacker Shaq Thompson and center Austin Corbett — to season-ending injuries earlier this year and wide receiver Adam Thielen currently on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
Johnson, the team's leading receiver, had missed practice the previous two days this week with an ankle injury, but then had a rib injury creep up in practice Friday. He was listed as limited in practice.
