Browns rookie Hall goes on commissioner's exempt list as NFL investigates domestic violence incident
CLEVELAND (AP) — Browns rookie defensive tackle Mike Hall Jr. was placed on the Commissioner's Exempt List on Tuesday while the NFL continues its investigation into a domestic violence charge filed against him.
Hall was arrested on Aug. 13 after his fiancee told police he threatened her with a gun during an altercation at the home they share in Avon, Ohio.
The 21-year-old Hall, a second-round pick from Ohio State, has continued to practice and played in Cleveland's two exhibition games since the incident.
According to a police report, the alleged victim's mother said Hall pushed her daughter and hit her with a baby bottle during an argument that turned physical. Hall and the victim have an 11-month-old daughter. The woman has another child from a previous relationship.
The victim told police that Hall threw her belongings outside and dragged her along the porch and driveway. At one point, Hall put a gun to her temple, per the report. The woman did not seek medical attention.
Hall posted $10,000 bond and was released following an arraignment in Avon Lake Municipal Court. He's scheduled to be in court again on Sept. 10, two days after Cleveland's season opener against Dallas.
Hall could face discipline from the league if it determines that he violated its personal conduct policy.
Any player on the exempt list is prohibited from practicing or attending games. The team can ask for permission for him to be at its facility to take part in meetings and to train.
