Talford's 18 lead Winthrop past Elon 78-70 to wrap up Rock Hill Classic

ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) — Kelton Talford's 18 points helped Winthrop defeat Elon 78-70 in the final game of the Rock Hill Classic on Sunday night.

Talford also added five rebounds and three steals for the Eagles (4-2). Sin'Cere McMahon scored 15 points, going 3 of 11 from the floor, including 2 for 8 from 3-point range, and 7 for 8 from the line. Nick Johnson was 5 of 11 shooting, including 1 for 3 from 3-point range, and went 2 for 4 from the line to finish with 13 points.

Rob Higgins led the way for the Phoenix (3-3) with 20 points and six rebounds. TK Simpkins added 14 points, seven rebounds and five assists.
