Muhammad's 19 lead Troy past Appalachian State 66-62
TROY, Ala. (AP) — Aamer Muhammad had 19 points in Troy's 66-62 victory over Appalachian State on Saturday night.
Muhammad also contributed four steals for the Trojans (9-6, 3-0 Sun Belt Conference). Tayton Conerway scored 15 points, shooting 5 of 7 from the field and 4 for 4 from the line. Victor Valdes had 12 points and shot 4 for 6 (3 for 5 from 3-point range) and 1 of 3 from the free throw line.
CJ Huntley led the way for the Mountaineers (11-4, 2-1) with 13 points. Appalachian State also got 11 points and eight rebounds from Tre'Von Spillers. In addition, Myles Tate had nine points and four assists.
Troy next plays Wednesday against Louisiana at home, and Appalachian State will visit Coastal Carolina on Thursday.
