Gurley scores 24 to carry Furman over Mercer 70-60
MACON, Ga. (AP) — Noah Gurley had a season-high 24 points plus 10 rebounds as Furman topped Mercer 70-60 on Saturday.
Gurley made 9 of 12 shots.
Mike Bothwell had 17 points and six rebounds for Furman (15-7, 9-4 Southern Conference). Jalen Slawson added 12 points.
Both teams set season lows for scoring in the first half. Furman scored 27 points in the first half, the lowest of the season for the visitors, while the 26 points in the first half for Mercer marked the fewest of the season for the home team.
Neftali Alvarez had 20 points for the Bears (13-9, 6-8). Felipe Haase added 17 points. James Glisson III had 11 points.
The Paladins improve to 2-0 against the Bears this season. Furman defeated Mercer 83-80 on Jan. 2.
