Set to miss at least one week The Valkyries announced Tuesday that Martin has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right quad strain and will be re-evaluated in a week, Sara Jane Gamelli of BallisLife.com reports.

Impact Martin served as a starter during Saturday's preseason win over the Storm and recorded eight points, seven rebounds and two assists in 23 minutes. It's not yet clear whether she sustained her injury during the exhibition, but she'll be sidelined for at least a week of practice late in training camp. Whether she'll be forced to miss any time to begin the regular season remains to be seen, but even if she's available for the Valkyries' Opening Night matchup against Seattle on May 8, it wouldn't be surprising to see her workload monitored.

Impact Martin was the Valkyries' lone starter to play over 20 minutes during Saturday's preseason opener, and she responded with solid production in the scoring and rebound columns. Martin made 42 regular-season appearances (four starts) with the Valkyries last year, averaging 6.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in 16.4 minutes per game. It's not yet clear whether she'll carve out a starting role once the regular season gets underway, but she should at least have an opportunity to see consistent minutes, even if she operates as a reserve.

Impact Tiffany Hayes, Veronica Burton, Kayla Thornton and Kiah Stokes will join Martin in the starting five for Golden State's lone preseason game. The 25-year-old started four games for the Valkyries in 2025, averaging 6.0 points, 2.8 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 24.0 minutes per tilt in those appearances.
