- This is my top 10 all-time.

COLIN COWHERD: So this is Doug Gottlieb's top 10. Read it out loud.

DOUG GOTTLIEB: All right, so I have Michael Jordan number one. I have Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Bill Russell, LeBron, Jerry West, Kevin Durant-- like, we're not having discussions--

COLIN COWHERD: No, no, no. Durant's way up there.

DOUG GOTTLIEB: Plus, remember Durant's second in the NBA in blocks now he's playing--

COLIN COWHERD: Yes.

- And Durant played his best against the best last year in the NBA finals.

COLIN COWHERD: Yeah, Durant's way up there for me.

- I still think you have to have Shaq there. Not great regular season, because he played his way into shape.

COLIN COWHERD: I could argue Hakeem more than Shaq, but Shaq's certainly more valuable league history.

- And he went to Miami, won another championship. I think he did hurt some of his all-time resume by going chasing rings and chasing checks. And I think Isaiah Thomas-- you know, look, because he iced out Michael Jordan in Jordan's first NBA all-star game, Jordan kept him off the dream team. But during the peak of the NBA, during the peak of the Eastern Conference, Isaiah Thomas won back-to-back titles.

COLIN COWHERD: Oh god, yeah.

- He was tough at both ends. He was a great scorer, a great leader, a great player. I would put him right there. You've got Jason Kidd, Stockton, Nash, Kobe. They're all in there right there at the bottom of the top 10.

- Your LeBron's a little low for me. But people forget this about Larry Bird, and you and I-- you because you're a basketball savant, me because I'm just old-- but when Larry Bird-- if you go back and look at the articles on Larry Bird, like Jack McCallum of "Sports Illustrated." Google him today.

When Bird walked into the league, they were saying things like, oh, we've never seen-- the exact same thing you were saying about LeBron. He was 6' 10" and a half. He was the best shooter and the best passer in the league.

- Remember-- I can't remember how many games they won the year before he got there. If I said 19, that'd be too low. It was like in the 20s or 30s. And they won 60 his first year with the Boston Celtics, you know. And the only thing stopping him from winning more than--

COLIN COWHERD: It was Magic.

- Was Magic and his back, you know. He had his back injury. And oh yeah, by the way, the Eastern Conference had the Philadelphia 76ers with Julius Erving, and Mo Cheeks, and later Charles Barkley. And of course, you had the Detroit Pistons. I mean, you had some--

COLIN COWHERD: All-time teams.

- --all-time teams. And look, to me, Bird somehow-- and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar-- somehow don't get discussed enough in terms of their all-time greatness.
