All-time upset of Gable Steveson
Sharaf defeated Gable Steveson via KO (punch) at 0:12 of Round 1 at UFC 331 on Saturday in Los Angeles.
Impact
It's not a stretch to call this one of the biggest upsets in the history of the sport. Steveson entered as upwards of a -1800 favorite, while Sharaf entered with an 0-2 mark in the UFC including knockout defeats to Steven Asplund and Junior Tafa. 12 seconds and one left hook later, everything changed. Obviously, this is going to be the high-water mark of Sharaf's UFC run and that's fine. He's 33 years old with all of six pro fights under his belt. He now has a legendary moment on his resume that people will be talking about for a long time. Not bad for a former United States Marine competing in his home state of California.

Scheduled against Steveson
Sharaf will fight fellow heavyweight Gable Steveson at UFC 331 in Los Angeles on Sept. 19, according to Marcel Dorff of Heavy on Sports.
Impact
After sitting out three-plus months with a fractured nose, Sharaf is patched up and ready to attempt to log his first UFC win. However, he is set up as a relatively easy opponent against Gable Steveson, the highly recognized ex-Olympic gold medalist who recently signed with the promotion.

Booked vs. Tuivasa
Sharaf will take on Tai Tuivasa in a heavyweight bout at UFC Perth on May 2, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
Impact
Sharaf is off to a shaky start in his UFC career, having dropped his first two fights. His most recent loss came at the hands of Steven Asplund via TKO back in December. His opponent, however, may be even more desperate for a win than he is - Tuivasa has dropped six straight fights.

Still searching for first UFC win
Sharaf lost to Steven Asplund via TKO (punches) at 3:49 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Las Vegas.
Impact
As was the case in his UFC debut against Junior Tafa in October, Sharaf's toughness was on full display in defeat. He absorbed an insane 170 significant strikes from the debuting Asplund and never once hit the mat. Referee Mark Smith was finally forced to step in late in Round 2 when he deemed Sharaf was no longer intelligently defending himself, but the fact he was able to absorb that much damage with out going down in remarkable. Sharaf's willingness to fight in the pocket and exchange with his opposition might earn him another fight with the company, but it's nearly impossible to envision a scenario in which the 32-year-old California native is productive enough to hang around long term.

Facing Asplund in Vegas
Sharaf will take on Steven Asplund in a heavyweight bout at UFC Vegas 112 on Dec. 13, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.
Impact
Sharaf is coming off a tough defeat in his first ever UFC bout, falling to Junior Tafa via punches in the second round of a fight back in October of 2024. Now, over a year later, he'll get his second chance in the Octagon against an opponent in Asplund who will be making his debut with the promotion.
