Impact This was the biggest fight of Salkilld's career and a massive step up in competition even though Dariush isn't anywhere near effective as he was even a couple years ago. The finish looked great, but it didn't come easy. Salkilld got crushed with a sweeping left hook early on which left him wobbled. He managed to survive the ensuing onslaught and turn the tables on his opponent, eventually landing two massive shots back-to-back which forced referee Rich Mitchell to step in. Now a perfect 5-0 in the UFC with four stoppage wins (three knockouts, one submission), Salkilld is an obvious name to monitor moving forward in a loaded lightweight division.

Awarded big opportunity fight Salkilld will be fighting Beneil Dariush at UFC Fight Night 275 in Perth on May 2, Aaron Bronsteter of TSN.ca reports.

Impact Salkilld is set for the biggest challenge of his UFC career to date against one of the best in his division in Dariush. The American fighter was scheduled to face Manuel Torres on April 11, but Torres was forced to withdraw due to injury, allowing Salkilld to step in as a replacement. Salkilld has won his first four fights since debuting in the UFC in 2024, and a strong performance against a top tier opponent would be huge for his career trajectory.

Rolls as biggest favorite on card Salkilld defated Jamie Mullarkey via submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:02 of Round 1 at UFC 325 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.

Impact Salkilld was originally due to face Rong Zhu this evening before dealing with an opponent change a few weeks ago. Mullarkey stepped in and Salkilld predictably routed him as a north of a -1000 favorite, by far the largest on the entire card. Quillan has legitimate power and as we saw here, an underrated ground game. He tripped Mullarkey to the mat before clamping on the rear-naked choke/face crank which closed the show. The 26-year-old Aussie is 4-0 in the UFC with three stoppage wins (two knockouts, one submission) on his resume. He is due a significant step up in competition his next time out. Salkilld is going to rout fringe-roster fighters such as a Mullarkey eight days a week.

Impact With Rong Zhu out for undisclosed reasons, Salkilld will now take on Mullarkey in the upcoming January contest. Salkilld will put a three-fight winning streak on the line as he faces Mullarkey, who has gone 3-3 in his last six UFC matches but has much more experience at the level.

Impact That's quite a statement from Salkilld in a pick 'em fight. The highlight of the early minutes of this fight was Quillan failing on four straight takedown attempts. It was at that point he fired off a head kick which got through Haqparast's guard and blasted him on the side of the head. The latter immediately crumbled, out cold before he hit the mat. Although Salkilld entered with a 3-0 mark with the UFC (including his fight on Dana White's Contender Series), his wins were over Gauge Young, Anshul Jubli, and Yanal Ashmouz. This impressive win over Haqparast means considerably more.

Impact Widely viewed as a top prospect in the lightweight division, Salkilld won his UFC debut via 19-second knockout in February. He was right back at it here, looking terrific before fading in the final minutes. Recognizing a hole in Ashmouz's game, Salkilld fired off a whopping 23 takedown attempts, landing eight. He appeared to be cruising towards the finish line before gassing out in Round 3 and letting Ashmouz back into the fight. The all-around skills aren't in doubt, but Salkilld's cardio needs to improve if he wants to make a continued impact in arguably the deepest division in the sport.
