Impact Sabitini knew he would need to wrestle to neutralize the sharp kickboxing of Gomis, but the 35-year-old was not prepared for the strength of his opponent or his ability to return to his feet after being taken down. This resulted in an excruciating 15-minute bout, which saw the two combatants tally a combined 48 significant strikes. So little happened, in fact, that the judges were forced to award the fight to Sabitini for notching three of 20 (!) takedowns and just over 11 minutes of control time. In all fairness, Sabatini can look good when he gets his game working, but performances like this one are a good reminder that a fighter needs something to fall back on when their main skill set isn't getting the job done. Sabatini improved to 22-5-0 as a result of the victory.
