It was only a matter of time before frustration set in, which forced the Brazilian to overextend. Mallot was there to greet him with a shot that signaled the beginning of the end. "Proper" also defended all seven takedown attempts from Burns, showing how prepared he was for the former title challenger. Malott has hit a few stumbling blocks in his climb up the rankings, but power, patience, and an all-around skill set should help the Canadian's cause. He moved to 14-2-1 in professional MMA as a result of the victory.

Looks to stay hot vs. Burns Malott will take on Gilbert Burns in a welterweight bout at UFC Winnipeg on April 18, per Marcel Dorff of Eurosport.nl.

Impact Malott enters the fight red hot, having won his last three bouts, pushing his UFC record to 6-1. Most recently, he handled business against Kevin Holland via unanimous decision back in October of 2025. He'll look to make it four straight wins against Burns, who himself has suffered four straight losses and will be desperate to get back on the winning side of the Octagon.

Impact It's the biggest win of Malott's career, although it came under what we will term "unusual" circumstances. Malott clipped Holland with two low blows in Round 1. Both were accidental, but the second was so severe that Holland needed to take the entire five minutes to "recover." He continued to fight but was clearly severely hampered the rest of the way. When you take into consideration how compromised his opponent was, Malott's performance was fairly middling, but he did enough to win and that's all that really matters. The Canadian improves to 6-1 in the UFC and the lone setback was a fight against Neil Magny in which Malott dominated the entire time before being knocked out with 15 seconds left.

He got the better of Radtke in what was a fairly uneventful Round 1 before earning the stoppage early in Round 2. It began with one left hand and finished with a few vicious follow-up shots. Malott will be 34 years of age in November, so he's too old to be considered a prospect, but he now has wins in five of his first six UFC bouts and the lone setback was a fight against Neil Magny in which he dominated early on before gassing and getting finished with 15 seconds left.
