Rolls as biggest favorite on card Ruffy defeated Michael Chandler via TKO (strikes) at 4:29 of Round 1 at UFC Freedom 250 on Sunday in Washington DC.

Impact This played out exactly as expected, with Ruffy dominating from start to finish as north of a -500 favorite, largest on the entire card. The Brazilian stuffed all three of Chandler's takedown attempts, although the American didn't appear to truly commit to any of them. Once it was clear things would remain upright, Ruffy pushed forward without resistance, battering Chandler with everything from massive punches to spinning head kicks. If anything, the stoppage from referee Mike Beltran could have even come a few seconds earlier. Ruffy is 5-1 in his first six UFC fights and his only setback came against Benoit Saint-Denis in a bout in which BSD applied the pressure from the very start, drowning Ruffy with his grappling. He's firmly back in track at 155 pounds.

Facing Chandler at the White House Ruffy will take on Michael Chandler in a lightweight matchup at the UFC White House card scheduled for June 14.

Impact Ruffy was cruising towards a title shot before a September loss to Benoit Saint-Denis halted that momentum, but he bounced back with a quality victory over Rafael Fiziev in January, doing so emphatically with a second-round finish. He now draws Chandler, who is more name than game at the age of 39, having lost five of his last six fights. Ruffy will enter with major height and reach advantages, as well as an edge in volume striking. He sports an excellent takedown defense of 85 percent, which likely negates Chandler's biggest strength. As such, it's not surprise to see him open as the largest betting favorite on the card, in the ballpark of (-650).

Gets right back in win column Ruffy defeated Rafael Fiziev via TKO (punches) at 4:30 of Round 2 at UFC 325 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.

Impact It was an excellent bounce back performance from Ruffy on the heels of his submission defeat to Benoit Saint-Denis in September. His issue in that fight was his inability to defend the takedown. Here, against a fellow stand-up artist in Fiziev, he was able to get back to his greatest strength. Ruffy is long and has pinpoint striking. He's low volume at times and that projects to be an issue moving forward, but the power is entirely legitimate, as Fiziev found out first hand. The Brazilian improves to 4-1 in his first five UFC bouts. His long-term ceiling is almost directly tied to his ability to improve his grappling chops.

Ruffy will enter with height and reach advantages, as well as youth on his side.

We got an answer in regards to how his defensive grappling would hold up against a wrestler and it wasn't a positive one. Ruffy's perceived edge in terms of pure power and overall striking ability was negated by his inability to remain upright. He gave up three takedowns and 4:38 worth of control time in a fight which lasted under eight minutes. Ruffy eventually tapped out to a rear-naked choke. This figures to be the game plan moving forward for every single opponent facing the Brazilian. There's a hole in his game that he's going to have to clean up.
