Retires again after defeat Aldo lost to Aiemann Zahabi via unanimous decision (28-29, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC 315 on Saturday in Montreal. Impact Aldo announced his retirement for a second time after the defeat, simply saying he didn't have it in him anymore to continue fighting. Maybe the decision would have been different had Aldo gotten the victory, which he probably deserved, but there's no denying this was a tough week for the legend. Weight cutting issues on the Aldo side forced what was scheduled to be a bantamweight fight into a featherweight bout. Aldo easily won Round 1 and probably deserved Round 2. He also had Zahabi on the brink of being finished in Round 3, at which point his gas tank seemed to immediately evaporate. He spent the final two minutes on the mat eating elbows and was lucky to see the final bell. Maybe Jose will change his mind after stepping back and taking a look at things, but the optics in the post-fight interview weren't great. Aldo's legacy has long been secured. He doesn't need to keep going at age 38.
