Stuns Israel Adesanya Pyfer defeated Israel Adesanya via TKO (strikes) at 4:18 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Seattle.

Impact It's the biggest victory of Pyfer's professional career by a country mile. It didn't come easy. Adesanya was the more effective man in Round 1, with Joe absorbing far too many leg kicks. The good news is that two things Pyfer does bring to the table were both evident this evening. That's massive power on the feet and a ridiculous amount of brute strength. He slowly found his range in an increasingly wild Round 2 and was eventually able to muscle Adesanya to the mat and flatten him out. Pyfer then fired off unanswered blows to the side of the head until referee Herb Dean stepped in. Obviously a win of Adesanya in the early days of 2026 doesn't mean even half as much as it would have a couple years ago, but it's probably enough to push Pyfer to the fringes of the top-five, at a minimum. He's 7-1 in eight UFC bouts and the one setback was a five-round loss to Jack Hermansson in which he badly gassed out after a hot start. Pyfer is legit.

Taps out Abus Magomedov Pyfer defeated Abus Magomedov via submission (rear-naked choke) at 1:44 of Round 2 at UFC 320 on Saturday in Las Vegas.

Impact In what was a shock to most everyone, Pyfer started this fight by grappling. He was asked in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan if that was intentional with the hopes of tiring out Magomedov, but he replied it was not. The decision allowed Abus to win Round 1 on all three scorecards. Once Pyfer got back to his old ways and started unloading bombs early in Round 2, the fight was over. One huge combination floored Magomedov and Joe then worked to finish him off via submission. Pyfer is 6-1 in the UFC and the lone defeat was against Jack Hermansson in a fight in which he dominated early on before gassing out. He's a legitimate prospect at 185 pounds.

Impact These two were scheduled to fight in late March, at which point Pyfer was forced to withdraw the day of the event due to illness. They finally got it on here, and although Pyfer won convincingly, it was not an impressive effort. The highlight of the night was a pair of Round 1 knockdown's secured by Pyfer. Yet as is always the case, Gastelum's durability came through and the bout continued. Joe's output and effectiveness dropped noticeably the final 10 minutes. He stopped throwing kicks and stopped stringing together combinations, instead looking for the knockout blow. Pyfer is 5-1 in six UFC bouts, including four wins via stoppage, so it's hard to say anything bad about his results to date, but he clearly has some holes in his game that he needs to clean up.
