Knocked out in main event Buckley lost to Mike Malott via KO (strikes) at 2:32 of Round 2 at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Edmonton.

Impact It's a result that should all but end Buckley's chances of making any sort of run at 170 pounds. Entering off back-to-back unanimous decision defeats to Kamaru Usman and Sean Brady, Buckley suffered his first knockout loss here since December 2022. The first round was competitive, although all three judges scored it for Malott. About halfway through Round 2, Buckley ate a vicious knee to the face followed by a right hand which put him away from good. Set to turn 33 years old next April, there's zero guarantee the UFC is going to give Buckley another chance, although the fact he's been with the company since August 2020 is likely working in his favor.

Will face Mike Malott Buckley will face Mike Malott in the main event of UFC Edmonton on Oct. 17.

Impact Buckley faces a tough test to bounce back, as not only is he coming off a loss against Sean Brady the last time out, but he'll also face a fighter who's on a four-fight winning streak. As if that wasn't enough, Buckley will have the support of the fans since he'll fight in Canada once again, just like he did in his win over Gilbert Burns earlier this year. Buckley has a 21-8-0 pro record but has dropped his last two fights.

JULY 28 • ROTOWIRE

Not competitive in loss Buckley lost to Sean Brady via unanimous decision (25-30, 25-30, 27-30) at UFC 328 on Saturday in Newark.

Impact Maybe Judge Dave Tirelli wanted to make Buckley feel better about his performance, as we saw anything but a standard decision victory. "New Mansa" defended the first few takedown attempts with ease but simply couldn't keep his feet when faced with the relentless pressure of Brady, resulting in just four significant strikes landed over three rounds. Power, speed, and timing have been hallmarks of Buckley's rise to contendership, but this is the second consecutive fight that has seen him get absolutely rinsed by a wrestler, following his loss to Kamaru Usman in June. If he can't figure out a way to improve his takedown defense, Buckley risks becoming an afterthought in the welterweight title picture. He fell to 21-8-0 in professional MMA due to the loss.
