Impact Filho accepted this opponent change after Lucas Rocha (undisclosed) was forced to withdraw earlier in the week and paid for it mightily. He ballooned to as high as a -700 favorite in some spots and was never able to find his range. Part of that was the result of Durden's smothering grappling game, but Cody is known for struggling with his cardio, and in this fight, Durden was clearly the better conditioned athlete. As inconsistent as any fighter on the UFC roster, Filho has alternated losses and wins in his first six fights with the company.

Impact Filho has had inconsistent results over the course of his UFC run, but he's also proven time and time again that he's supremely dangerous on the mat. This was the latest example. Filho appeared to be in very poor position with Carpenter on top of him, but Filho immediately isolated an arm, flipped his opponent over, and eventually earned the stoppage. It was a thing of beauty. The 32-year-old Brazilian has won three of his last four, with all three coming via first-round submission.
