Struggles continue in Sydney Brundage lost to Cam Rowston via TKO (punches) at 4:08 of Round 2 at UFC 325 on Saturday in Sydney, Australia.

Impact We have a gigantic sample size that tells us Brundage's striking isn't the strength of his game. He actually did better on the feet in the early going of this one than most would have predicted, but it ended up not being enough. Cody attempted just one takedown, which failed. Rowston eventually picked up the pace in Round 2, and as we have seen countless times in the past, Brundage wilted. Dating back to December 22, Cody is 3-6 (1NC) in his past 10 fights. The fight he is still a member of the UFC roster is one of the world's great mysteries. This may have been the performance that broke the camel's back.

Impact Brundage dropped back under .500 in his UFC career with a loss to Eric McConico back in August. Sporting just one win since the beginning of 2024, Brundage will now be tasked with overcoming three-inch height and reach disadvantages to turn things around in January.

Impact Brundage has the right to be upset with the decision here, as he led the striking battle in the first two rounds, in addition to executing a takedown in each of those frames that led to lopsided control time numbers. However, McConico had the bigger moment in Round 1 with what looked like a knockdown (assisted by a balance issue), and he finished with the stronger striking numbers in Round 3, while Brundage faded a bit. Brundage now has just one win in his last five trips to the Octagon dating back to April of 2024. He'll likely continue to serve as roster depth in the middleweight division moving forward, hovering right around .500.

Impact Brundage has booked his next fight and it comes less than two months after his last fight and with less than a week to go. He will take on McConico who had an uninspiring UFC debut with a Round 2 loss to Nursulton Ruziboev. The two fighters are the same height but McConico owns a three-inch reach advantage.

Loss overturned Brundage's loss against Mansur Abdul-Malik has been overturned to a draw, per MMAFighting.com.

Impact Brundage will no longer have a loss on his record after the Georgia Athletic and Entertainment Commission ultimately voted to overturn the result from a technical decision to a majority draw. The fight ended early in the third round after an accidental clash of heads led to Abdul-Malik being initially declared the winner, and despite replays showing the head butt, which caused Brundage's fall, the referee opted against a no-contest and sent it to the scorecards, where Abdul-Malik won by technical decision.

Another controversial finish Brundage lost to Mansur Abdul-Malik via technical unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlanta.

Impact It wouldn't be a Brundage fight without it ending in some sort of controversy. To Cody's credit, he did enough in Round 2 to get even on a pair of scorecards despite entering as a +600 underdog, largest on the entire card. Round 3 started with a wild back-and-forth exchange, at which point Brundage crumbled to the mat before getting finished. It was deemed an accidental clash of heads led to the stoppage, so the round was scored up until that point, with Abdul-Malik winning on all three scorecards. Three of Cody's last six fights have ended in controversial fashion. He's 3-2 (1NC) during that stretch.
