Will not fight Saturday Smotherman will not fight Ricky Turcios at UFC 324 on Saturday, according to Aaron Bronsteter of Sportsnet.

Impact Smotherman passed out during his weigh-in for UFC 324, and not long after he required medical assistance, the promotion has canceled his recently upcoming fight against Turcios. What the former is dealing with is unknown, and his return to a UFC ring may not be in the near future.

He draws another struggling bantamweight in Turcios, who has also lost two in a row and three of his last four. On paper, this is an even matchup with both fighters sporting near-identical striking numbers. Turcios has a slight edge in reach.

Drops decision to Ricky Simon Smotherman lost to Ricky Simon via unanimous decision (27-30, 27-30, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Atlanta.

Impact Smotherman was truly awful in a unanimous decision defeat to Serhiy Sidey in early May. He accepted a quick turnaround here against Simon following the withdrawal of Charles Jourdain (undisclosed) and again struggled, although this time it came as a +350 underdog. It's quite clear at this point that Smotherman has no defensive grappling to speak of. He allowed three takedowns to Simon, good for 9:13 worth of control time. If he wasn't flat on his back, he was being pinned up along the fence. Smotherman has some pop in his hands, but he simply doesn't have the secondary skills to allow him to get to it. He looks nothing like the guy that defeated Jake Hadley via unanimous decision in his UFC debut last October.

Impact Smotherman will step in for Charles Jourdain (undisclosed) at UFC Atlanta this weekend. The 27-year-old American is 1-1 during his time in the UFC and is coming off a loss against Serhiy Sidey in May.

Not competitive in Des Moines Smotherman lost to Serhiy Sidey via unanimous decision (27-30, 28-29, 28-29) at UFC Fight Night on Saturday in Des Moines, Iowa.

Impact Smotherman looked quite good in his UFC debut in October, a unanimous decision, late-notice win over Jake Hadley. He had a full camp under his belt for this matchup against Sidey and was awful. Smotherman was either unable or unwilling to engage his opponent with any regularity. He appeared hesitant to let his hands go and was constantly defending takedown attempts. He gave up five on a dozen tries, leading to 4:12 worth of control time for Sidey. The terrible effort comes on the heels of Smotherman spending an extended time in Mexico training with Diego Lopes and crew. None if it bodes well for the 27-year-old Texan moving forward.
